Not being negative, just being a realist. I'd love for the Rams to make the playoffs, just don't see how with a gutted roster, 3 good players, just 3 picks in the first 100 and an unproven OL.

Arizona Cardinals
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Chicago Bears
Dallas Cowboys
Detroit Lions

Green Bay Packers
Los Angeles Rams
Minnesota Vikings
New Orleans Saints
New York Giants
Philadelphia Eagles
San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Washington Whatevers

I got 8 teams in bold that could be ahead of the Rams.

This site has the Rams rated 27th in the entire NFL. The Rams are ahead of the Bears, and Cardinals.

They are rated behind the Falcons and Bucs.

Ouch CBS has the Rams only ahead of the Bears ranked #29 in the entire league.

Not any better on this site, Rams ranked 3rd worst record in the NFC with 5 wins 1 ahead of the Cardinals and 2 ahead of the Bears

I started going down the rabbit hole of the schedule and had to stop. I never liked that guessing game. Ranks and ratings will change every week. We are still weeks away from the draft. At this point, the Rams are underdogs. McVay can use the underdog label as motivation.

I know, I love Jahmyr Gibbs too!
When it comes to the draft you're like the dude who goes to pick up his prom date with the corsage and the whole nine but she decided last minute to go with McVay and Snead in their stretch limo.

there sure are a lot of posters that are counting on three player and a coach to get us to the playoffs. the only problem with that is those three players are getting towards the end of their careers and coming off injuries also the coach was almost ready to retire during the off season so who knows how that will affect the team and him. anyway i hope thing work out but i for one will wait for the season before i put them in the playoffs.

Seriously how much paint you been huffing?

Zero chance we make the playoffs with the defense we have.
It's not even the defense I'm worried about...it's the offense.

Which is worse...

"Maybe we can surprise and challenge for a wildcard if we kill this draft."

or

"There is no hope. We are doomed to fail this season."

When you consider that teams with losing records have made the playoffs as wildcards, and that wildcard teams in some years can be quite shitty, it seems rather obvious to me which take is the more ridiculous of the two.

If you are hoping for young guys to step up and lift this team, it’s not going to be the new draftees. That’s just not realistic. Especially without a FRP.

If young guys come thru, it’s MUCH more likely to come from the 2021-2022 drafted guys.

Both sides of the ball require a lot of things to go our way this season. But there are better pieces on the offense. More talent if you will. Whereas the defense has more guys that I think are much more unlikely to step up.

So if the Rams agree with that sentiment it is entirely possible we're about to see a defensive draft. If they trade down they can still add a couple key pieces on offense like maybe a TE somewhere in the earlier rounds and an iOL later and still load up the defensive side.

That's what I'm hoping will happen. Defense badly needs an influx of talent.
