Truer words have never been spoken.Von leaving really fucked us. Put us back to our secondary being exposed by a lesser rush. Which is precisely where we were prior to getting him. I mean we discussed the hell out of this before the season and it has played out to expectation. Sadly the secondary which I had hoped would be aligning and playing well by this point still is cycling guys like Long out there which means the rooks may not be able to help us which means it's probably gonna suck the rest of the season.
And the offense was a combination of poor decisions, each of which by themselves was not so bad but when added up on top of the injuries it's a wrap for 2022.
But we did win it all in epic fashion and we will always have that so thank you Coach McVay and the rest of the Rams decision makers. Question now is whether these arrows of misfortune create a natural break for McVay. All I care about at this point is McVay returning. I think that's important. If that happens then maybe he goes out and gets himself a real run game coordinator and this ends up being nothing more than a blip on his record.
If McVay leaves for a fat TV deal we're extra fucked. Because this roster is in no shape to attract a top head coach to replace him, and we don't have a high pick to find a pass rusher until 2024. Hopefully it doesn't come to that and if it does Stan Kroenke is going to need to flex his checkbook to attract the right coach. But not gonna go there until we find ourselves there because that's a dim place.
Going forward this offense is not going to get back on track until they start running the fucking football. McVay has to realize that. Even then they won't be fully back to anything noteworthy but I am just talking enough offense to compete in a given game. And as it pertains to running the football nothing is going to change until you quit wasting critical fucking snaps handing the ball to shitters who aren't going to do a fucking thing for you. Every handoff to Hendy means it's to a guy who is not going to get going. At the very least isolate the minimum number of snaps and give them to the guy you want to ride. So in the last game if you took all 13 carries and add a handful more and give them to one back maybe that back gets rolling and the offense settles.
If you don't like Akers then bench his fucking ass. But don't feed Henderson snaps. That way lies madness and offensive inefficiency. Maybe the kid has something to him, and maybe McVay will realize all this and quit listening to whoever is feeding him the idea of splitting carries because splitting carries is not fucking working.
Great post.
