See where the Eagles' All Pro RT Lane Johnson just went out with an injury.

If he misses games, that would be a Huge Loss for Philadelphia.

Made me wonder about the 13-1 Eagles O-Line health this season; so I looked it up. Going into today's game, exactly one Eagles' starting Offensive Lineman (LT Jordan Mailata) missed a total of one game ... ONE!!!!

That's 69-out-of-70 healthy starts
for the Philadelphia Eagles O-Line.

Kevin Burkhart, the play-by-play guy in the Cowboys/Eagles game just said:
'Cowboys have to go for this on 4th and goal. In reality, the extra field goal does not do a whole lot.'

It was a three-point-lead. Dallas lined-up as if it was going for it when the play-by-play Incompetent Moron made the above statement.

That 'extra field goal' makes it a six-point-lead, and that forces the Eagles to score a touchdown with less than two minutes to play and just one timeout. OF COURSE YOU TAKE THE FUCKING FIELD GOAL!!!!

That's the kind of Football 101 a fan explains to his aging-aunt who does not watch football.

That's why I often watch games, with the sound turned-off.

Well..

A field goal doesn't change your worst case scenario... a touchdown beats you in either scenario.
If you score the touchdown.. pretty much game over.
If you miss the FG, the offense isn't forced to try and score a TD.. they can go for a FG to tie. Again.. not your worst case scenario.

At the end of games with a minute 4 left? And time outs? That's an eternity... I would have absolutely gone for the TD.

I have zero confidence that any of the NFC teams will knock the niners out of the playoffs. Until they are eliminated the playoffs are gonna suck this year.

My guys would've loved it.
Aggressive and playing to lose rather than playing scared.

This is my best post.
Did you mean to write "lose"?

Your Defense would not have loved you ... Hey Coach:
'Take the 6-point-lead. Don't you trust us to keep them out-of-the-end-zone with 1:44 to-play and 1 timeout!?'

THANKS FOR THE CATCH!! Fixed it.

I think, generally.. players want to win and will back a philosophy that gives them the best chance to win.

And... the math shows that going for the TD there gives you the best chance to win. You don't ONLY coach to the math.. but, boy, I believe in it in that scenario.

As I recall, the iggles were in FG range at the EOG, so the FG was the right call for derpy Dallas.

They were at the 19 with 27 seconds to go.
Plenty of time to get a TD from there, so, from a clock and game management perspective, a total failure. Fortunately, the D came up with a stop.
If I told you that the opposition would have the ball and a time out at your 19 with 27 seconds and it was second and ten.. would you have been so confident in taking the FG?
