Was Todd Gurley that much of a problem?

I definitely think the Rams are better off and commend Snead and the Rams for eating the dead cap and cutting him. Not just physically but I believe mentally he had or has some issues going on. Rams look a lot more free and explosive on the field and frankly happier and more lively.

I was a huge Gurley fan and soured on him due to his play and especially demeanor last season.

So many times players get angry at the organization and say and do stupid things on the way out the door or after the fact. Not realizing or maybe caring that they are burning the fans at the same time. There is a classy way to exit.

We saw this all start in 2018. Could have been a tweak to his knee. There was certainly a tweak to his attitude.

Like many others on here I defended our star running back. Thought we found our ED II. I was in his corner until about the middle of last season when there was no doubt his attitude was controlling the narrative. Something was certainly going on. It was just embarrassing watching him answering questions in the post game interviews. No can know for sure but I began questioning if the past MVP was not right in the head. At that point it doesn't matter how his knee was. I never gave up on him hoping it could turn around.

So when the team let him go I felt a bit defeated. But my trust for the management of this team knew they had good reason. And Todd showed his true colors. Couldn't depart as a gentleman but as a thug. Hence he was a team problem. Never want that in the locker room. I don't care how good you are. It does not make up for the affect it has on everyone else's play.

Wish him well. Never would have thought he would become a trivia question after the 2017 season. Will always be a bit shocked how fast TG II fell.

I have no idea what went down with Gurley... Some day we will know more...

I am just glad if there was something wrong, we admitted it and moved on quickly. Again, assuming there was something to move on from.

We can muster a running game with good oline play and play calling. We are seeing that now.

I think Gurley was playing more for his own health.
He didn't seem to.want to fight for the tough yards anymore. Give him a little space though..and look out.

I have never had the misfortune of having to rehab from a bad knee injury. I'm sure it can be a difficult, emotional road.

One thing we so all know, is that its not a good sign when you see an athlete on the bench with his knees iced up.
Gurley is more than likely nursing some long term effects of knee trauma.

Its my guess, that he is just trying to extend his own career.

What I saw last year was that Gurley only got the yards that were blocked for him. When Brown or Henderson came in, they made some of their own yards. I knew that Gurley's time as an elite and even very productive back was over. Henderson always had much more pop to his runs then TG's, but they were forced to give the ball to TG due to salary. I was happy when they let him go, and I think we are seeing the results of that. Still scratching my head at picking a RB that high in the draft however with the 2 guys we already had in the building...

Similar to, you should never disagree in front of the children, although some people still have trouble heeding that advice, Gurley seem to pout and all of the sudden, he was affecting the locker room and once that happens regardless of the cap hit, the Los Angeles Rams had to part ways. Seems like it was best for both parties, similar to @Selassie I divorces (not sure if it's more than one) but overall, Gurley and the Rams are both better off as the Rams have a nice stable of running backs under a rising assistant coach in Thomas Brown and Todd Gurley III took that midnight train to Georgia and is back home playing for the Atlanta Falcons.

I agree. Even though we've got TONS of serious money to invest.
 
I will always love TG and miss "what should've been," but he was definitely in his own world, and seemed a bit independent from the team. Now the locker room seems filled with WeNotMes who want to prove themselves, with everybody on board as far as I can tell, esp. the team leaders.

I don't get why people "Don't want to talk ill" about him. If it's THE TRUTH, speak it.

Todd Gurley was bad. Not just in his play but in his demeanor and attitude. He CAUSED a lot of what was wrong with our team, last year...

It does seem to possibly coincide with the Anderson usage, but also with the reports that Gurley was dealing with chronic arthritis. I'm guessing Gurley or his people didn't leak that info, so I could see some hard feelings coming out from that revelation as well.
