If McVay is going to allow Morris to choke the life out of the defense he needs to improve the offense. What they need is a legit RB threat to balance the offense out. This team becomes one dimensional in the second half because the run attack is pathetic. It's really clear that the Rams got rid of the only real RB threat they had. It's why McVay needs to see what they have in Zach Evans. He's 5'11 with 4.4-4.5 speed. Who knows they may already have a Taylor like RB on the roster.

That is why in the second half when teams realize the Ram run game is basically nonexistent they simply tee off on Stafford. No OL can protect when the defense knows you can't run. The Rams MAKE THEMSELVES ONE DIMENSIONAL they have two move the chains type RBs and don't even use them well. There isn't a true RB threat either running the ball or as a receiver, so they simply play pass defense and send everyone with no regard to the run game.

This is the huge failure of Sean's offense. They need another Gurley like threat at RB to back off the opposing front 7. Stop and think about it. When Goff was behind a decent OL and had Gurley this offense was unstoppable with Kupp and Woods. Well, they have a decent OL and better WRs with Kupp, Nacua, Atwell and Jefferson. But this offense can't be sustained for a full game. The reason is very clear....no RB threat. Williams doesn't scare anyone after 4 games they can tell he's good not great and McVay stops using him. So their entire defensive game plan is stop the passing game. How do you do it? Simply overwhelm the OL. McVay's pass routes are slow developing so they will have time to get to Stafford. They know he's not going to run so that is a huge factor.

On most plays Hurts has only 2 reads and if they aren't there he runs. This is why people are going crazy over Caleb and Mayes because they are the same way. But that isn't how the Seahawks and Rams use their QB. It's why IMO both teams will target Penix. He is a pocket passer who can read the field quickly, tries to move to extend the play always looking downfield, then runs only when he must. Penix has 4.5 speed. If he goes to the SeaChickens that will be bad news for the Rams, it will be like facing Lamar Jackson or Mahomes twice a year.

That is why I expect the Rams to pull out all the stops. This will be like how they stole Stafford away from the Niners. The Seahawks haven't hidden their interest in Penix. It's why Smith's contract is structured so they can trade or release him in 2025. If the SeaChickens get Penix does that mean Geno Smith becomes the Ram's QB?

I disagree with Caleb being a 2 read QB - he goes thru all his reads but he takes forever at it before he is done and usually has to scramble to finally find the open guy. Caleb definitely needs to improve his read time to be a great QB in the NFL. He has all the other skills.

Durant needs to be taken out of the star role. He can't tackle worth a shit. Maybe put Kendrick in the star position and move Durant to outside CB where his coverage skills will be a more useful asset.

You folks have done a great job at identifying the Rams' needs... we have no pass rush outside of Donald. Hurts was able to sit back there and wait for someone, anyone, to get open. Byron Young had some success, (he is gonna be really good next year!!!) but we need others to step up right now.

Our O-line is mediocre (mostly because of injuries), and our offense is woefully inconsistent. The offense was great in the first half but sucked in the second half... just like when we played the 49ers and Bengals. If the offense could have had some success in the second half, the D would have been able to get off the field for a while. And Hoecht is a disaster. McVay and Morris need to stop that experiment and try something else.

Some other notes... Ernest Jones played well, the Rams D played really well against the run (and can't blame the secondary when the opposing QB has 20 minutes to throw), and Kupp and Puka are going to be great together.

I know this may upset one poster on this board, but Morris is incompetent and it is starting to look like McVay is too. I am so tired of these NFL coaches who refuse to make adjustments to their game plan when something obviously is not working. Please take off the blinders.

Like the Bengal game Stafford was under a lot of pressure most the second half. I'm thinking DC's are noticing something at the half and dialing up more pressure because they know the Rams aren't good at protecting their quarterback with it. If the Rams really want to surprise people and be a legit contender, that is something they need to figure out.

I don't what they can do about the poor tackling. That is fundamental football. If you aren't good at it by now I don't know how hard it will be to teach them how to improve there. Maybe focus more on wrapping up than just taking a shot that the ball carrier bounces off and keeps running?
Seem like reminding them to rap up every time before they take the field is about all you can do. That and shame them in the film room. Run ten laps for every missed tackel?

I don't understand why people are surprised.

When we traded Ramsey away it was pretty clear what type of a season we were in for.

Glad I turned the game off after the Puka TD and went to bed. :D

I think it's the talent / lack of experience amongst the talent. So it's a player issue more than a coaching issue. The coaches were fine when they had a superbowl roster after all.

This vent thread is starting to make me laugh... Mcvay sucks... Morris sucks....

The Eagles Roster is x10 times better than ours... we got rid of everyone this so we could reset for next year.

Some seem to have forgotten this -- we were not even supposed to be competitive this year.. many predicted we may be the worse team in the league.

At this point, just run with 5 wideouts. Its a joke that the Rams think they can hold up with their makeshift oline

our talent at WR is much better than the talent at TE.

A big issue I see is that we are poorly schemed against the blitz... if not that the players don't seem to know what to do

the blitz is way to effective against us.

Stafford needs to play better and more consistent or the Rams can't win. One week he's hot the next he's not.

Second half sucked against the Colts too…at least until OT…seeing a pattern.

I just wish that McVay could put as much focus upon developing a strong rushing attack as he does the passing game.
This offense is just too Matthew Stafford dependent. It was the same thing in Detroit. Coaches fall in love with the arm talent and the running game be damned.

And I understand that 11 personnel is his thing, but couldn't he mix in some 12 personnel or other packages more? Give opposing defenses other things to look and prepare for sometimes. Free Davis Allen!!
