Harkey is a beast. Everytime he caught the ball he always seemed to get a first down or score. And hes a fantastic blocker, really helped revitalize the run game. He's definitely an important cog in the machine. Really like our TE group. Can see Justice Cunningham having a nice year as well if he makes the roster, he was pretty good with the Gamecocks. Speaking of tight ends, has anybody heard how Mason Brodine is doing at TE? His development really intrigues me.
Harkey is one serious size FB @ 6-4 260 last yr no telling what he come s in at when the TC begins. Fisher has taken this UDFA TE & has molded him well for his offense.
Harkey is a load when he unloads. What we saw in a small dose last season was his good hands & surprising athletic ability.
Harkey started 10 games after fracturing his leg the last week of 2013 pre season.
Harkey played very little in the first 4 games with 1 catch for 6 yds. Once he began to get healthy & the running game was emphasized by Fisher his worth became clear. Harkey is really much more FB or move H-Back than a TE.
Kendricks was a high 2nd round selection 2011 saved his best game of last season in the slaughter of the Rams in Seattle where he show'd me he was one tough SOB against Seahawks...
LANCE DID NOT BACK DOWN! Kendricks was used a a dump off ball catcher last season.
Kendricks is able to play the FB role for Harkey & can play very well behind Jared Cook Excellent when used along with Harkey @ FB.
Cunningham hung on on the PS late last yr mostly a FB Harkey type. I have no ideal what a 6-7/6-8 284 pound
Brodine will do??? He play all last pre season @ DT? but Brodine is very athletic & if he can catch the ball ?? & block, which I am sure he can do.... it could get interesting.
I really think the
big surprise @ TE in TC & pre season will be UDFA 6-4 260 pound rookie
Alex Bayer!
Its still hard for me to think of
Jared Cook as a TE?? I seem to think of him like Jimmy Graham thinks of himself..a very tall large wide out. I sure would like to see Jared used in the slot more myself where those 5-10 5-11 Nickle-backs will soil their unis.
