Really amazing catch and again... How is that a yard short of first down?
I get the whole momentum angle but am puzzled as he clearly went out in 1st down territory.
To be honest, I think the catch was so spectacular that they somewhat guessed
I suppose the Rams could have challenged and won but it was such a game changer that they just went with it.
Alas, Rams only getting hit with only 1 penalty all game makes it hard for me to be critical of any calls in that game

I thought the same thing, why was that not a first down. And did the Rams not challenge because they were pleased it was a catch?

Yeah, IIRC they didnt waste a whole lot of time running Corum on the 2nd and 1, almost not letting Detroit think about challenging it themselves
I didnt think it could have been a catch, and after a tv quick replay the Rams were already picking up the 1st down
I dont know what was more impressive, that he picked it so clean or that he got 2 feet in

When I saw it, I wasn't sure he got two feet in. Maybe some doubt there could be why they didn't challenge.

Yeah. I didn't really think of the bolded angle. It seems petty in the grand scheme of things but I suppose I maybe wanted it for TuTu as well. I have a hard time figuring out why he doesn't get more opportunities. I get all the rationale that has been discussed ad nauseum here so I don't want to go down that road again. It just seemed so obvious that if they could see it was a catch, they couldn't see where he went out of bounds. Oh well. We won and that is all that truly matters.

I agree. I would never question McVay, and we have always had great receivers, but all this guy does is make plays. Granted he can't block... which is probably why he's never on the field, but he is a damn good receiver. He will do well with his next team.
