Didn’t our very own Jared Goff make his first start against the Dolphins?

I don't know how to feel about this.
Yeah I'm surprised. But I think that decision was made to give them some run/option and edge threat vs our front. Rams basically have a pass rushing front (not a great one but the starters are better suited to the rush IMO) so that edge threat is going to make things tough. Not to mention he can look forward to tons of underneath confidence-builder throws vs this defense.

But I also think if we stop the run we'll be ok. This defense is much more dependent on run stoppage to get the third and longs it needs.

First career starts typically don't go well. First career starts against a top 5 defense statistically? Yikes
I agree with this. But are we really a top 5 defense right now, at this moment in time? I don't think so, not with Fuller out. Seems to me like our secondary has been Jeckle & Hyde, and the Hyde looks have mostly been when we don't have Fuller back there with JJ.

IMO Fuller & JJ have been absolutely killing it. The dropoff is real.

and it was a ?????????????
train
ps it was a freakin mess

I was actually in Nashville train when the game was played and watching it with my pals, one of which supports the Dolphins. If my memory serves me right we were 10-0 up for the majority of the game (which meant my pal covered up his Dolphins top with his coat) and lost 14-10 with them getting two late touchdowns (at which point my pal took his coat back off and gloated terribly)?

Yeah me neither. Luckily Miami's running game is bad so we should be able to stack the deck on defense against the pass. Hopefully the Rams welcome the rookie to the NFL appropriately and don't let his story dictate the post game conversation.
It has looked a lot better since Gaskin has basically taken over the role as the lead back. He is solid.

Also I forgot that Tua is a lefty. Which means his blindside changes things a bit.

I would keep Floyd on that RT and give him a chance to rack up some pressures and maybe sacks. The RT Davis is a mismatch in our favor IMO (Floyd will win a lot). So will they move Davenport over to RT? And if so he may require some adjustment time in real snaps to get in the zone.

So our front might be able to take advantage of this. It's far better than counting on any of our OLB vs Davenport at LT.

Oh and I'd arrange my front to have AD on the 3T over Kindley's shoulder all day long. Pressures should be there with AD and Floyd IMO but the contain of course becomes the concern. Tua can move.

I’m good with this. If this defense is who we think they are, they should be able to mess with a rookie.

I don't know how to feel about this.
He gets 2 weeks to prepare and the Rams will have virtually no film on him.

Hmmm...could be peaches, could be Lima beans.

We should be able to take advantage of his lack of experience. Bring the pressure early and often.

Interesting. I've been quite frustrated with JJ, myself.

This is a scheme that is apparently quite good when it comes to disguising coverage. That might make it hard on Tua. We shall see. Bears come first.

I think so. The defense absolutely shut down the Niners in the second half after adjusting

4th in yards, 4th in points

Without looking it up I'm pretty sure that this is the first time weve been top 5 in both this late in the season since 2001

Yeah this worries me. The Dolphins probably should have kept their mouth shut about this and announced it last minute. Now we at least know to prepare for someone else.

A guy named Kurt, with a winning record that season, was unceremoniously benched for a kid named Eli.

Not surprised Tua is seeing the field already...they know they aren’t going all the way with Fitzpatrick so might as well give Tua the ball. I don’t care. All I know is there won’t be any excuses if we can’t beat a rookie QB in his first start.

I hope you're right. But I feel like we're in for a bit of a rough spot. Good competition ahead on top of missing a couple guys that are gonna be felt.

If we lose 2 of the next 5 I won't be shocked basically. But I'm also excited to see how they do. They might run the table we'll see.
