Yes he was definately a Fisher Guy. I'm not sure how much say Snead had at the time.
I think he was an above average corner at best. I think we definitely made the right
decision to move on.
I did however like Trumaine better than Jenkins.
I thought Jenkins could screw up off the field at anytime
There is no love loss for either one of them.
Apreciate your response my ROD Brother.

Well Demoff has a big day back the,as I believe he has more trust in McSnead way more than Snisher.Plus his work load got so much bigger with the move.

My other point was how the Front office gambled & lost. Fisher sort of fucked with Jenkins in his rookie deal.
Then when both became FA’s they got caught at low balling Jenkins & the CB market went up.
The Rams has there cupboard empty & that is how Tru got the 2 Franchise tags.

Snead has a system & now it can playout. Was mad The Rams didn’t lock Cory Littleton up early. His can you complain about a comp pick for a UDRFA though?

The Rams got burned last year by letting John Sullivan go for money.Plus not playing Noteboom & Allen in the preseason. Now they have developed there bench & depth upfront.

Signing RAMsey shows what the CB position means to The Rams.

Copper Kupp has come a long ways.

Mcvay has helped totally change the culture & it started with KISSING Tru’s Ass.
WE NOT ME

Always classed Tru as a good #2 corner for us but wasn’t ready to be #1 once Jenkins left.

No hard feelings from me. Yes he made way more money than his ability deserved but also provided us with some solid play when we would celebrate winning back-to-back games.

Funny seeing him and Kayvon Webster as the starting CB pair in ‘17 highlights.

Jenkins was never close to being the best cover corner in the NFL because he lacked discipline and was constantly trying to jump routes to make a big play only to watch the big play go the other way. He’s been that way his whole career. Hit and miss but never close to the best and that’s why he’s on his third team and still getting beat. Tru Jo has always been just an average cb and was overpaid for just about every year he played.
Jenkins was the best CB I saw in 2016, and it was not even close. Watched every game he played ... have to, live in NY ... and he was amazing.

Now I agree with most of your comments about his career. That was the entire point of my posts on both Jenkins and Johnson. Extremely inconsistent. Often undisciplined and disappointing but their best years were really good; and Jenkins that first year in NY was off-the-charts.

that’s fine. Tru was a Fisher guy. Mcvay gave him such love his first season.

Tru played for himself. Was never a team guy. Those costly penalties. The Rams has to pay him, because Snisher got burned.

Now Ram fans can look at how the 2020 draft went down.McSnead learned from the past.

I guess my question is what did Tru Johnson ever do for The Rams? He was never that good imo.

Johnson cost us a game for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, I believe against Philly when mouthing off to Alshon Jeffries after a long incompletion. That pissed me off, the same way as listening to NRC after the NO championship game blathering on and on to the media.

Jenkins was outstanding when he was motivated but his later disinterest and taking entire years off was a big factor in causing the Giants to crater and guys to get fired.

Very happy that we have smarter and more professional players under McVay. Guys who who are motivated, prepared, show up for every game, and bring it.

Looking back, the Rams D got a pick 6 from a starting corner in the 1st game of both 2017 and 2018 by Tru and Peters, respectively.

The following season they were both gone to other teams.

I'm thinking McVay isn't totally swayed by 1st impressions.

Some guys are system players. Tru appears to have been just that. Never great, but definitely played well while in the horns.

Someone will kick the tires out of need IMO

I would say that, while polite, honorable, and protective of his players, McVay is also ruthless. He will not put up with players who are not on the same page as the team, no matter who they are or how much we seem to be trapped by their contract.

Quite a difference from Fisher, but McVay is playing a different game.

Yeah, the idea that McVay isn't tyrannical about proper execution is just silly.

Dude obsesses over those details.

And while he's never gonna throw a guy under the bus, don't be surprised if they are traded away or are released after the season.

McVay is totally on the player's side, if there is such a thing, and always at least tries to put them in the best positions to succeed. But that doesn't mean when guys aren't doing what they need to do that he's not on them in a real way.

AD said it best. When McVay had just got there and he was doing practices, AD was asked if he's really just a cheerleader out there like he sounded and AD made a face and cocked his head to the side like "what?" Then he said something along the lines of "yeah, he's really positive and keeps the intensity up during practice, but if you mess up, you know it just from a look. He's pretty intense."

I'm paraphrasing, but pretty closely iirc.

And after this last off-season, I think he's making it very clear that every year, players have to earn their spot. I mean, I dunno of many other teams that would eat this much money to do addition by subtraction with as many big names as we did.

Ruthless? I dunno. Unrelenting, absolutely, although that's splitting hairs, I guess.

Absolutely unrelenting is a pretty good descriptor for McVay.

i was so angry after that play. angry at tru for giving the ref a reason to throw the flag and angry at the ref for throwing it when all tru did was mouth off like every other corner in the league after a play. but more at tru for being a selfish, dumb fuck.

the rams offense was on fire that day and were a good chance of scoring on the next possession and getting a two score lead. instead the eagles score and wentz does his acl. even though the rams did get the lead back the d relaxed a little when foles entered the game and got burnt badly.

fuck you tru. first round bye fizzled away because of you.

.

While the question of who scored the first TD under McVays era will be an awesome bit of trivia, there was more to it than that.

McVays first year, our pass defense was EXCELLENT. TruJo, Webster and NRC did a great job all year long.

Wilson - 16 and 7 points
Brees - 20 points (long run by Kamara)

In our four legit losses, you had:

Redskins - gashed us running the ball
Seahawks - d played great, offense crushed us
Vikings - pass d and offense, but Webster and NRC got hurt
Eagles - pass d was bad

They got roughed up by the Eagles - that was pretty much it. Even in the playoff game, it was the run d and special teams that cost us

I think your take is a little weak!

Tru Johnson was always a average CB.
JJ 21 was the same way.The Rams would get up & then bang a deep ball for a TD.

McSnead got burned & Fisher & Demoff messed as well on both.

Joyner sucked as well, but played hard.
Eh, those (Gregg Williams) defenses were good enough to win playoff games IMO. Undisciplined sure, but big plays were made, they were uber-physical and the pass rush was ferocious.

There was never any support from the offense. Fisher's units never ranked higher than 21st in points scored.

That has always been the rub with Fisher...no offense equals no playoffs

How they kept Joyner as nickle & not as a FS was silly. Just the big plays The Rams gave up at the wrong time.

Yeah I would have taken a jeff fisher/williams defense today...
