Tyson is legit. But we're so good at finding WRs outside the first round. There are some guys in this class who would mesh well with our scheme.
Agree, Tyson is insanely good its not even funny. If we get the chance, I can't see McVay passing on that chance. He'd be like....

I'm sorry, I'm just so juvenile :laugh2: :zany1:

Some rumors/ideas don't seem to make a lick of sense to me.

A team with 4 TEs (one of which is a 2025 2nd round selection) is going to trade for a TE?

A team with the vast majority of it's targets going to Puka and Adams?

Makes no sense at all, IMO.
Yeah I agree with you that TE doesn't make much sense given that we already have four. And Hockenson in particular doesn't make sense with his contract as a trading team would owe him $35m over the next 2 seasons.

But I'm not sure the target argument is a reason not to trade for another receiving option. The offense looked its best and most efficient last week when the ball was spread around, without Puka. Any chance McVay is considering that?

I'm sure McVay is considering it. However, they did it with the talent already on the roster and even then Atwell didn't get a reception.

Besides, IMO, the lack of spreading the ball around isn't all on McVay. Stafford has got to want to do when his main target IS available.

Yeah, it's probably mostly on Stafford. I'm just trying to get into the mindset of the HC, or maybe even the GM, to understand why they would be interested in adding more weapons. If Stafford is surrounded by trustworthy weapons, maybe he uses more of them.

An Andrews, or even a Hockenson, would be a more trustworthy and legitimate weapon than all the other TEs on the team.

McCreary has only played 12 wide corner snaps in the last two seasons per Pro Football Focus, but he played 880 such snaps in his first two years.
His first two seasons he was under Vrabel, who I think had it right with him.

The rumors are started by the media, based on what some putz thinks might make sense. The rams are not looking to give up picks for a TE. There is only one position to trade mid season for, CB and I don't think the Rams are even serious about that. Spoon will be back and that will give them what they need for nothing.

Maybe. Maybe not. Given the time it's taken for Stafford to get on the same page with Adams, the TEs on the team who already know the offense and have already had reps with Stafford might prove more trustworthy than the bigger names.

Some really dumb articles, if you can call them that, being written at the trade deadline. Rams most likely stand pat. I've read some stating Snead is calling about CB's which might be true, but it's more like Snead saying, "hey bud I've got a 7th rounder burning a hole in my pocket how about giving us so and so". Nothing serious I would think.

My worries about Ahkello is the break in a coaler bone & playing NFL football. It was sort of a freak injury.
QB’s seem to comeback alright.,but CB’s ? If all goes right though the Arizona game o Lions would be the goal.

Good thing is collarbones often heal back stronger.

We've only played 7 games, and Stafford was giving Adams the 2nd most targets since Day 1. I'm not advocating them trading for a TE, but if they did, there's plenty of time for chemistry to develop by the playoffs.

My instinct still says the Rams

1) make a small move to SELL for low end pick, any one of our TE’s not named Ferguson.

2) BUY low end depth at DB or OL

I don't know, this TE talk and situation is enigmatic.
We have a top tier athlete at TE in Fergz, A veteran superbowl winner in Higbee, a giant that can catch and block as well as seemingly fill the RZ role in Parkinson and another large fluid guy with great hand and a huge catch radius in Allen.

Maybe it's not the player at all but the in game scheming and use, we have had a lot of chances and seemingly filled the holes that are needed for this position to succeed, yet season after season we come back to the same discussion when and where are we going to use them.

It may just be that we aren't missing a unicorn but instead need to figure out what a unicorn looks like and what to do with it when you find it.

It could be scheme or use. But it also could be that they don't have any special players at the position.

Higbee, Parkinson, and Allen aren't special. I'm assuming no argument there. Ferg has the most potential to be special but he's a rookie. If they're looking for immediate impact, they may not want to wait for Ferg to develop.

Agreed,
I am just having a fun chat about it.
McSnead has drafted or had upwards of 6 TE's that are NFL level in their tenure and we the ("knowledgeable fans") have had this discussion every season.
If I were to take a blind throw at the dart board I would say only a guy like Bowers, maybe McBride and possibly Pitts if he was playing at 100 percent effort and potential would fit their needs.
They want a TE body in a WR that can block and run......a Unicorn!
