Maybe but I have seen teams that wanted to get rid of a player that no longer fits there scheme still get something for them.

And I think that some teams may think they can get something still out of Akers.

I know I know - I have probably taken in too many fumes from my car.

That usually happens when the dude has been a schmuck or has asked to be traded. Akers is back from a serious injury, shown attitude/work ethic tendencies, and NOT shown the same explosiveness nor vision he had before the injury.

Not the same thing. We're lucky to get a few smokes and can of stale Coors.

Yeah, its pretty pointless to make a trade now. The teams with the player to be traded can hang out and wait to see how teams needs increase over the weekend

If anyone had offered as much as a ham sandwich they'd have sent him packing. When the Jets only had to give up a 5th or 6th for Robinson, it took Akers off the board

Well I heard he was a schmuck calling out McVay in a meeting with the team but that could be just a pile of drivel too.

But being benched due to personal reasons seems to make him a schmuck in other ways.

But yeah his vision has dropped off a cliff. I could be hoping that someone says "Shoot we will fix that" lol

Where's O'Brien when you really need him.

His injury and lack of production post injury, is killing his value. Then add in his supposed recent attitude issues and it will be tough to get a bag of balls for him.

He is in a contract year, which is what we usually get, unfortunately.
 
Coming back early like he did IMO was actually a red flag. Achilles injuries will frequently have a career altering effect on a RB. It is not uncommon for it to take away the player's natural explosiveness in their running style. I don't think it's his vision as much as his inability to run in the same style as he used to. The power and explosion he had originally is gone and he must change how he runs.

IMO if Akers wants to stay in the NFL he must change how he runs, i.e. how he plays the position. He only needs to look at Kupp for his answer. Kupp began an unbelievable training regime that increased his speed but also his power. Kupp is far more buff than he was as a rookie. It's clear his core strength is tremendously improved. Kupp's speed is nothing like he was as a rookie. When he turns on his afterburners he can fly. As a rookie Kupp timed at 4.62 in the 40. Recently Kupp was timed at a little over 20 mph which would be in the 4.2-4.3 range!

Akers would need to emulate that type of training regime and change from a shifty speed runner to a fast power runner. That type of transformation will take probably 2 years, but Cam is a young man. He's got the years to do it and still have a productive career. But it's going to take a complete change of attitude and not everyone can do it. Kupp proved it can be done, it's just a matter of whether Akers has the mental fortitude to make it happen.

Otherwise, his career will end up as a FA backup level player for the remainder of his productive years. As he is he no longer has the agility and burst to take advantage of those holes he's supposedly not seeing. In McVay's mind he's damaged goods which he is. That said it doesn't have to be permanent if Cam doesn't want it to be.

Yeah, I'm thinking the Rams chances are better next year if they are able to add key pieces. I have little confidence in the team this year for a variety of reasons. The offensive offense being the biggest. I don't think they are a trade piece away at this point.

Of course.... I hope I'm wrong :-)
