I’ll never forget Tood Gurley in 2017. What a breath of fresh air. The peak being 180 total yards and 4 TDs in beating SEA 42-7.

I'da maybe given my left nut to have been at that game.
Fu*k them chicken fans. :helmet::startstruck::cool:

That really sealed the deal for me being a TG30 fan! Watching those fucks file out of that stadium by half time was really the official downfall start of the Seagulls. The fans and players knew it to.

I remember going rounds with people bitching about mcvay not using gurley anymore...

and myself and a few others trying to explain that his knees where shot.

Ya guess what... his knees were shot...

He's speaking in double negatives which means he does in fact miss playing football.

His attitude only soured once it became apparent that his injury was chronic. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for him to have his gifts taken away like that.
Unless there's supposed to be commas in there. If he said, "There was never, not one time, where I watched a game and was like, ‘I wish I was out there,'" that's totally different than, "There was never not one time where I watched a game and was like, ‘I wish I was out there,’". He's a college educated guy. I doubt he used "never not" in a straightforward double negative fashion.

I suspect that, once again, shitty journalistic standards are biting us on the ass.

Still a big fan of Gurley. He brought the Rams back in the limelight. I’ve had several knee surgeries and they have taken their toll on me. I couldn’t imagine playing backyard football anymore , let alone what Gurley had to deal with. Just the slightest bit of swelling and stiffness and pain set in. Some guys don’t make it back.

I thought about this in the middle of the night. So many "what ifs"...
But in the end, I think he just got tired of runnin' the rock & carrying teams on his back & to suffer a lot of pain for it. When life & success came calling, I think he just wanted to move on. Soon his IG & other posts had very little about football in it, unlike other Ram members. Ya they're living their lives too, but look at AD's posts... Kupp's.... even Goff's to an extent. These guys were/are still grindin', but I think Todd's knee(s)** were so painful that the grind just became impossible. I think he toughed it out for his hometown ATL, but even there you could tell -- he just couldn't do what he used to, he was a one trick / one cut pony.
Oh, but the years we had... so awesome to watch him. I really think he was what made the Rams so successful in their run -- ya we had a lot of major contributors on those teams, but without the TGIII magic, we didn't have that pop to put us over the top. So thankful to have called him a Ram. But sad to think what could've been. He really coulda been an HOFer, he was that good.

**(who really knows how bad it was? woulda been nice for him to let us know, maybe we'd care?)

TG30 was a huge difference-maker. An every-down run, catch and block star running back. How about the screen pass long TD against the Titans. He had so many highlights in a shortened Rams career. With his ability to turn the corner he turned little gains into big gains. I always thought he tried to keep it real at the pressers.

I would have liked to see how he would have done in the Super Bowl. Somehow I think he would have done well.

Question…does Gurley deserve the Gale Sayers & Terrell Davis treatment when being considered for the HOF?

If S-Jax doesn't make it, I can't see Gurley making it either.

Personally, I'd be fine with letting in both of them because they were talented Rams players, but honestly? I don't see it. Unlike Davis, Gurley didn't win a championship. Unlike Sayers, Gurley never put up absolutely dominant numbers as not only a rusher and receiver, but on special teams as well. S-Jax didn't even go to a Super Bowl, unlike Gurley, but he has the longevity and the underlying stats - his numbers on some really terrible squads - to make a case for himself.

We were so fortunate to have him.

One of my favorite memories I have of him was when he could have scored a TD, but chose not to. It was during the waning minutes of a close game (can’t remember who we were playing) when he broke away from everyone and instead of taking it into the end zone, he turned and ran along the goal line to kill as much time as possible. I think he took a knee anout a foot from the line.

Another We, not Me moment. Anyone remember that game?

I sure do, I can't remember the game either. I'll always be thankful for Gurley and feel awful for him. I just didn't like the way he exited. But he was so electrifying when he was healthy.

I am sure that years from now Todd will say he doesn't miss having a gold jacket.

@IE Rams it was vs the Packers on October 28, 2018. Sealed our 8th straight win of the season.

Thx, but I just watched those highlights. That’s not the game I was thinking about. I’m pretty it was on the road, in a game played on artificial turf, but my memory is real hazy. But that wasn’t the game.

I‘m gonna go look it up.

Edit: Found it, @ottoman89 Rams @ Lions in 2018. He didn’t take a knee, but eventually allowed himself to be brought down on the 2 or 3. Go to 9:22.

That's it! Such a heads up play! Like OBj running out of bounds backwards this past season to keep the clock running.

I thought you guys were talking about thar game against Arizona, where Gurley slowed down and stopped from scoring so time would run out. Wasn't it HoneyBadger that ended up tackling him?

Hell yeah. Heads up play by OBJ. Dude’s so smart.

I think he even threw off Stafford for a moment on that play. Stafford looked pretty miffed, but then realized what OBJ did.

He's done it at least twice then and that speaks to what an awesome and selfless player he was.
