Brings up the philosophical question, "Would you rather have a Great RB with an average Offensive Line, or an Average RB with a Great Offensive Line? I would always choose the 2nd. Not saying I am right, just my preference.
For me give me a great OL. If you can add a back with breakaway speed then even better. A great OL keeps your QB on his feet and gives him time to pick a D apart.Brings up the philosophical question, "Would you rather have a Great RB with an average Offensive Line, or an Average RB with a Great Offensive Line? Can't be mad at that logic cuz I'm all about fuck that teamSure and I agree.
But the moment that playoff failure is cemented my hatred of the shitters means that if we both miss the playoffs then I want the Rams to draft before them. So it never ends.![]()
Yeah... however.Right now the Rams are a lower first division team.
Give me the great oline, they are more important to the team than a rb.Brings up the philosophical question, "Would you rather have a Great RB with an average Offensive Line, or an Average RB with a Great Offensive Line? I would always choose the 2nd. Not saying I am right, just my preference.
Greatness can happen outside the SEC.Give me the great oline, they are more important to the team than a rb.
On Jeanty, I don’t see his evaluation getting him rated that high playing in that conference. If he’s great why isn’t he playing in the SEC or other top tier conferences?
True but the competition and speed between conferences is not equal.Greatness can happen outside the SEC.
They’ve already been rebuilding the OL so not sure what blowing it up looks like for you. They have to do something with their tackles. I’m not sure this is the draft for a franchise LOT but that would settle 4/5’s maybe all of it depending on Hav.People talking about having a great OL... I also would love to have a great OL. But do you really see the Rams blowing this OL up to rebuild it. I think the only way that happens is if they lose faith in Stafford and accept they need more rebuild time.
It is much more likely that they try to add the threats we are sorely missing right now.
Jeanty and RB in general I don't think is a need. Williams & Corum are a good combination. Williams will be in a contract year in 2025 which means he'll ball the fuck out too. Only way they go RB is if it's insanely good value. So like them seeing a stud like Jeanty falling to them and saying fuck it obviously this is destiny so let's take him.
Question is how big is that upgrade over Williams vs what one of those two top TEs add. Or what a WR or a CB adds. In what combination of decisions is the team better.
My top 2 targets are a CB and a NT. Question though was OL over a weapon which for me is easy. If we don't go with one of my top 2 I'd like a LT. I know people love Jackson and he is a lot like Little that the Jags just extended. He's good not great, he can be upgraded but it's not a weakness per se. But there are a couple of LT that could be there for us in the 1st that would be an upgrade add to that Big Rob can't play forever so I don't think they have to blow it up. As it stands right now next year we don't have a LT, yes they can sign Jackson to a new deal but they haven't yet. And like we all know the road could come to an end soon for Rob so it's not really blowing it up. If they want they keep Limmer and have Avila and Dotson next to him.People talking about having a great OL... I also would love to have a great OL. Well first off I think we can all agree that the Rams have significant needs at CB. It's real clear. Same with some other positions on defense. Offense the needs are clear as well. They’ve already been rebuilding the OL so not sure what blowing it up looks like for you. They have to do something with their tackles. I’m not sure this is the draft for a franchise LOT but that would settle 4/5’s maybe all of it depending on Hav.
A great TE would be amazing but CB is most likely this year’s 1st rounder.
Here's the issue: the tackles have been the best performers on the line. They’ve already been rebuilding the OL so not sure what blowing it up looks like for you. Yep, in a nutshell they need speed on offense & defense. (CB, ILB, WR, TE)See where Missouri WR Luther Burden declared for the Draft. One of the first top-prospects to do so.
Think the Rams' top needs are Cornerback and interior D-Line. If Alaric Jackson leaves, Left Tackle jumps to the top of the list. Off-Ball-LB is also a major need but not many ILBs get drafted in Round One.
The other Need Position, in my opinion, is Wide Receiver because Kupp and Nacua are so physical, I believe injuries are inevitable. When one or both are out, there is a huge impact on the Rams' Offense. Burden could be one of the better prospects at a position of need when the Rams are on-the-clock.
In Round One, I am a big believer in Best Available Player ... AT a Position of Need.
Yep, in a nutshell they need speed on offense & defense. (CB, ILB, WR, TE)
Throw in a DT that can stop the run and compliment Fiske & Turner, and an OT to eventually replace Havenstein.
I think a trade back in rd 1 to try to get an additional late 2 is a real possibility so they can add another potential impact rookie.I agree with all that; and, maybe, they can sign a solid free agent or two to fill a couple of those needs. However, as years pass, I become less optimistic on Free Agency.
Most Big-$ signings are over-priced, and for players that have performed well for other teams. Most of us loved that the Rams had money to spend last March, and many of us were happy with the Rams signings. However, none of the bigger-$ deals have translated to high quality performances. I think Curl, Parkinson and Darious Williams have been OK; and I am hopeful Jonah Jackson eventually contributes (2025?). However, none of them, in my opinion, have excelled thus far.
The Rams mostly let their free agents go; and I would prefer they over-pay a few of their own guys rather than other teams' players. I hope Alaric Jackson is retained mostly because I don't think it would be easy or cheap to replace him. I kind of go back-and-forth on Bobby Brown for the same reason. Might want the versatile Hoecht and even Atwell back on reasonable deals (if possible) but all their other pending free agents are replaceable in my opinion.
My point on a player like Luther Burden is that he may be a quality prospect, at a position of need that may be available when the Rams select in Round One. Unfortunately, the Rams can address only one of the positions listed above.
All the others will need to be addressed via free agency (the Rams should have some $ but not a ton) or with other draft choices (after Round 1, the Rams would not select until Round 3, with two picks ... low-80s and around 100 ... where they got Corum and Kinchens).
Maybe the Rams hit big in the 3rd Round, like they did with Byron Young, Kobie Turner and hopefully Corum and Kinchens Sure hope so but the reality is the Rams just picked-up off waivers a player that was the 16th overall pick just one year before Jared Verse was selected 19th overall. The Rams nailed it with Verse but the Draft ... even Round One ... is a gamble.
The Rams will have just one Premium Piece of Capital (their #1 pick) to address Just One of their Primary Needs ... Cornerback, interior-DL, Wide Receiver, Left Tackle (if Jackson is lost), Off-Ball-LB and Tight End.
Yep, at this point I think it's about 75/25 that the Rams trade down in the first round to get a second rounder.I think a trade back in rd 1 to try to get an additional late 2 is a real possibility so they can add another potential impact rookie.
And in rd 3 you can find guys that can make an impact. We have seen that in these last few drafts.
Agree, wouldn't be upset with him. He's a good player and it's a bad 1st round this year so he could def go top 10.I would not be upset with Jeanty. He looks like an elite player, and that is what we need more of. If he runs well it'll be interesting to see where teams slot him though. Personally I'd say an elite is an elite so he should go top 15 at least but with RB you just never know man.
This is why I also won't be upset if we end up picking top ten. I think this roster needs it.
