Of course who wouldn't want Mahomes or Stafford as their QB? But getting and paying an elite QB is super difficult and super expensive. And drafting is such a crap shoot.

I always have this argument with my buddies, but I think the value method to build a championship team is to focus on a stud O-Line through free agency and the draft. The QB can be a mid round pick or a former first rounder down on his luck, like Darnold or Daniel Jones for example. Behind a stellar O-line, I think most NFL caliber QBs would become stars. And if they don't, there's plenty more to choose from.

So yes. Draft O-line. Pay O-line. Then find a QB that will stick.

Stafford has to get rid of the ball so fast we can't get very many deep plays. It's probably why we don't see Atwell when we play against good Defensive lines. We are not as bad as the Bengals O-line but one guy goes down and it falls apart. The Rams need to consider that Havenstein may be retiring soon.

Why not try and get the best tackle and move jackson to rt and get a qb with the other pick

Because Jackson isn’t a problem. Draft a center and get Big Robs replacement in the second or third.

All this draft two first round lineman stuff is kind of knee jerk IMO. Rams went up against a top line and the one that got abused on the highlight special teams play was only in there because of injury. Stafford wasn’t running for his line or getting abused. The Runningbacks had holes. It’s like we’ve forgotten what a bad offense line is.

Sorry - not worded well.
"2 of our top 3 picks are currently on the bench, and one 5th rd pick (Paul) has already been traded away (a guy we traded up for no less)."
Does this help u grammar nazis?? sheesh
We have a really good and deep team. We should expect draft picks to mostly be depth at this point.

I agree that Jackson isn't a problem. They can't replace the entire OL.

I don't see the unhappiness with the OL as being knee jerk though. We've played 3 games and the interior OL has struggled in all of them. Stafford hasn't had much time to throw in any game this season.

Fuck it. I'm tired of our OL being the bottom of the barrel each year and getting punked. I know we need our future QB but at this point I'm just ready to nip it in the butt and reset it so it can eventually be up there with the Lions, Eagles, Cowboys etc. Rob is too old and can't handle a bull rush anymore and Shelton is undersized. We need to stop rotating through these late round prospects hoping that we eventually find a diamond in the rough.

The Oline is starting to master the "Olé Blocking Style" in crucial moments.

No.

QB is the first and foremost draft priority… if you can’t get one, you should be trading down in efforts to get an additional 1st rounder in ‘27.
Ass-kicking RTs can be found in the second.. Centers in the 3rd.

Yeah… the much-hyped line in this game gave up 4 sacks… Rams gave up one.
Who knows.. even Witherspoon might have made a difference.. but the reality is the Rams outplayed the “most talented roster in the NFL.”

Everything will depend on how Stafford finishes the season and IF he decides he wants another year.

Then you got to consider free agency and what can we get there. But I agree on our needs, T, C, CB, WR and QB depending.

I don't think Staff will even consider coming back for another year if a considerable upgrade is not made in the offensive line. He will likely want a veteran free agent signing over a young drafted guy.

I wonder if the Rams could find someone someplace that can play center or guard before the season is over. Maybe trade Atwell for a big lineman.
Atwell would not draw any compensation let alone a valuable asset like an OL....even a quality depth OL.
Look at what big name even former pro bowl vets get traded for....not a lot.
No one is going to give an OL in season until they are completely out of it. Would need to be a guy (likely) on the last year of his deal.
Who knows, but, probably not a lot to trade for.....but, hey, Snead found Dotson, so......Im sayin there's a chance!!

I’m a fan of this idea. Jalen Hurts is an example. Behind any other Oline he is likely out of the league by now. Behind the best Oline in football with a really good defense and pro bowl skill players they are an elite team.

You build the Oline then import the QB.

QB play is highly highly dependent on Oline and Skill positions. If you disagree then tell me why Mahomes offense sucks and Goff lead a top offense to 15-2 last year. Jones, Darnold etc.

In my book we really just need a top center and a RT ready to step in for Havenstein. We also need a really competent backup IOL. Mcvays offense would be 30+ a game.

I pounded the table for a top center in FA and an IOL in the draft. Sounded weird but only 10% of teams will have the same Oline starting all games. Backup Olineman need to be viewed as critical starting positions because they impact the game that much. Posters bashed the idea but here we are.

This is silly. Talking about the draft because of week 3. Did anybody notice Noteboom playing for the Ravens Monday night? Not injured and it's 3 games into the season. Why would you use draft assets to take a tackle this past draft when you have Hav and Jackson as your starters? To back up?
