Trent Williams says 2027 season will probably be his last?

What is that quote from John Madden........"if you're thinking about retirement, you're already retired". If he plays both Rams games, he'll retire after 2026.
Now's a good time to hold out for more money.

I’ll never forget when whiney, butthurt Niners Culture came out on full display when Philly clobbered them in the playoffs 3 years ago. Post-play cheap shots, and Williams literally picked up KVon Wallace from behind and dumped him on his head; all he ever got was ejected, and was never suspended any games for it. Trent has a history of shtty incidents.

Yeah, McVay was born to be a coach. He knows how to build the right culture. You rarely see the Rams go through the things the 49ers go through on a regular basis. If it happens its the player not the team. Rams will quickly move on from him if that is the case.

So grateful we got McVay instead of Shanahan.
Anger and hostility over a fratboyish, republican culture where you have to bend your knee/genuflect to the "special people". That would answer the question, "with their roster over the Shanahan era, how did they not win a Super Bowl"? And if that's true, it's from both Shanahan and Lynch (who I could never stand....worse than Shanahan), which is why no heads roll....other than player's heads. Good. Keep those two on payroll. Better for the Rams!!!!

Contrast that with McVay, who always provides open, full eye contact and equal respect and grace to everyone, no matter who it is or what their role or station in life is. That's always amazed me about him.

Agree with the great George Kittle here. If Shanahan got canned by San Fran he'd have calls for his services in 2 minutes.

If McVay was ever to retire from Rams in near future, i would hope its in the same offseason Niners fired Rat Boy.

I agree. He's in the toughest division in football. He's been to 2 Super Bowls. He's been to 4 CCG. There is no problem with his coaching abilities when it comes to X's and O's. What we're hearing though is the atmosphere seems to be lacking.

9 years. Five postseasons. He's finished last as many times as he's won the division (3). He's finished 3rd three times, making the playoffs in 2 of those. He's yet to finish second.

McVay on the other hand. 9 years, 7 postseasons. He's won the division 4 times. Finished second 3 times. And third twice. He's yet to finish last.

Sometimes a guy isn't on the hot seat because he can't win. He's on the hot seat because he can't win enough. And that usually comes into play over a long tenure....."message gets stale", "can't get past ________", "can't win the big one". He's 11-8 vs McVay (11-7 & 0-1) Imagine where he'd be if he didn't hold that edge? Shanahan can certainly end up on the hot seat after this season if he doesn't win enough. Sure he'll get another job in a NY second because he can win. But in SF those three little quotes might come into play.

I would think the Niners would hold onto him desperately. He would have to miss the Playoffs like at least 3 consecutive seasons to consider it.

That Organization HAS TO have nightmarish flashbacks to Chip Kelly, Jim Tomsula, Mike Singletary to name a few.

He definitely has his warts, but would also get hired in 5 minutes. That says alot.

I would think so too. But I don't think it would take 3 straight non playoff years. They lost to Seattle 41-6 last year. 3 years ago they lost to Philly 31-7. They're not just losses, they're ugly losses.

He beat McVay 9 of 10 times. The one loss was the CCG. Now he's lost 3 of the last 4. If they were to miss the postseason, or lose two to the Rams this year and get knocked out of the postseason again, I could see heads rolling. Especially if that recent story about their culture has legs.

And yeah, he'd be hired in a NY second because some teams need to win as a change, not necessarily win it all.

I'd still hire him if i was a team looking to win it all. But maybe thats just me.

He did after all lead the Super Bowl in Overtime for sakes. The All-Time Great, Active Hall Of Famer, Patrick Mahomes pulled a rabbit out of his hat, just as he did to Shanny four years earlier.

Just like the great Jerry West eventually won after losing a million Finals, i can easily see Shanahan raising the trophy one day.

So Ratboy is definitely a top OC. But that’s far from being a great HC. Great players and great offensive schemes have led to exactly 0 SBs for the 69ers.
I believe his window has closed as a HC in SF.

Is there a coach who's blown more double digit leads in big games besides ratboy? Don't forget he was the OC in Atlanta's famous collapse after leading 28-3 with about 17 minutes left in the game.
