Both parties lost it, but ayuck got paid.
The 9ers overpaid by a ton. At the time, ayuck was nowhere near a top 10, not even top 15 WR. Too many good prospects come out every year. The WR market was betraying basic economics and the 9ers bit.
After a lengthy holdout, with some vitriol included, ayuck ended up re-signing with a team to whom he was not loyal. He was just chasing $$.
Now the 9ers are stuck with a big contract and a me-first player while ayuck rides his salary as vindication of his perceived talent level.
He will be out of football before the contract ends.
I love that Aiyuk got his clock cleaned against the Rams on their desperation play just as the game ended in the Rams first win against the whiners last season.
