Seems like the majority of the shitter fans are happy with the deal. But there are a few who' are concerned it prevents them from building around a guy who's pretty much a game manager. I think they had to pay him. Otherwise they'd be in that dreaded quarterback purgatory. Trying to find their guy every year.

I don't think they'll ever win a Superbowl with him. In a good year they'll be a mid to low seed playoff team who may or may not win a first round game. They had their shot with a super team around him and failed. They won't get another shot anytime soon.

Now comes massive expectations on the kid. As Mr Irrelevant, getting paid peanuts as a starting QB, you are always way over achieving any expectations by fans. Now it’s a whole different world for him. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles this new world.

Boom….

"I think he seems like a smart guy," Nacua said of Purdy. "They (the 49ers) have a chance to still be in their (Super Bowl-contending) window. And I think if he goes for a 5 [$50 million-plus per year], then the window closes."18 Apr 2025

So Lynch is trying to placate fans after signing a 32 year old TE to a massive contract by trying to convince people there was high interest by other teams. Got it.
If there's any truth to that they might come to regret not taking that offer. Especially if the injury bug starts to hit a 32 year old player. Woulda been less cap money for a young guy they'd control for 4 years.

If the whiners have a crap year this season then I am thinking Shanahan will likely be gone. He missed the window.

Then what for Purdy? He does not seem like a rally the troops type of leader.

I see nothing than a system QB who was Mr Irrelevant for a reason.

Some do win a lottery.

Basically any decent QB could succeed in that system. It's very QB friendly, with lots of short to medium passes based of play action. Paying a game manager top tier money is a hilarious solution to a problem.

They almost HAVE to. That’s going to be a real top heavy cap team. If they don’t absolutely nail a couple drafts in a row, that team is fucked. And I just don’t think they are that great on drafting for the most part. Therefore…FUCKED

I wonder if the talking heads will make as big a deal (as they made of the whiners 6 game streak against the Rams) if the Rams sweep the whimpers this season? They sure kept talking about it until previously until the Rams took their souls in the 2022 NFCCG.

Where are they finding all this $$$?
Current Dead money:
Trent Williams 55 mill- Current cap hit of 21 mill, cap hit of 38 mill in '26 or 34 mill dead cap hit if released
Nick Bosa 96 mill- Cap hit goes from 20 mill in '25 to 40+ '26 and on
George Kittle 54 mill- decent deal, cant get out until '27
Brandon Aiyuk 65 mill- cant move him until '27 at earliest when his cap hit goes to 41 mill. Likely when he's finally healthy
This is only 4 players, havent seen the numbers on Purdy or Warner yet

So many questions left.
McCaffrey, already got an 8.5 mill option bonus and only has a 1.2 mill salary (non guaranteed) for the rest of '25. I cant see him playing on that deal. Still has 20 mill of dead cap on current deal with 3 void years
Will Trent retire, or threaten to again?
Jauan Jennings- Had breakout year in '24, and is on last year of deal that will pay him about 3 mill in salary/bonus and he can earn another 3.5 mill in escalators. 8 mill in dead cap void years already hitting them in '26. Will he demand a new deal?

What a disaster upcoming

Didn’t we ask that question years ago and and it turned out they were paying players under the table….or under the cap if you prefer?

Maybe that’s how they placate the rest of the roster. If so, Bye bye Lynch. Only the Patriots are allowed to do that in this league!
