Gonna take more than two years.
I remember thinking that before the 2017 season. If you're talking about winning another Superbowl, then yeah, I don't see them winning one next year. But I do see them quickly turning it around and becoming a contender again.

This year is the learning experience. They had a lot of draft picks. Odds are they will find a few legit starters out of that many. Next year they have their full compliment of picks. They can find an immediate talent in the first round or two.

I think next year's draft and FA period should put us back to contention. This season will be about sorting through a roster turnover, so I would hope that after next offseason the roster is back to the quality and depth McVay needs.

If not then there's going to be a ton of changes. New coach coming in and the whole nine because that would be 2+ losing seasons which will not be acceptable and heads will certainly roll.

Maybe The Mummy was a Rams fan and the douche on the left was a Niner fan.

I had this on my fridge for years. If you want a great couple hours get a The Far Side compilation book and kick back on the couch a laugh you ass off.
You have to click on it to see the script-words.

Were you convinced we were going to win when Wolford or Perkins was starting?
I always convince myself there is a way... “ We can run the ball on these guys” or “the defense matches up well” or “we’re coming off a bye”… etc.

But no doubt, in those games my confidence would not be as high.

If you average all of the sports media the general perception is probably somewhere around 6 to 7 wins. I’ve seen some with wins around 7 to 8 or maybe 9. But I’ve also seen some with us around 4-6 wins. But.. lets say the general perception is 6 to 7 wins.

Now as a Rams fan you need to decide, do you think the mainstream media is right? With your in depth knowledge of the Rams do you tweak it up or would you tweak it down?

We’re all just guessing at this point.

If you tweak it up; we’re fighting for the playoffs.

If you tweak it down; we’re fighting for Caleb.

Preseason will tell us something, but EVEN THEN… because how McVay conserves starters, we’ll be guessing.

One thing I know; EVERY week I convince myself we’ll win…so in my mind we’re going 17-0.
Agree!!

i see between 4 and 9 wins, our early schedule is brutal, could be 0-6 to start

THE RAMS WILL BE A PLAYOFF TEAM THIS YEAR. ONCE IN THE PLAYOFFS, ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN, ESPECIALLY IN THE NFC. THE TEAM IS LACKING IN EXPERIENCE NOT TALENT. THEY SHOULD PEAK IN DECEMBER WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY SHOULD DO. THIS TEAM IS GOING TO SURPRISE PEOPLE. THE PROBLEM WILL BE HOW MUCH WILL MORRIS GET IN THE WAY OF DEFENSIVE SUCCESS? IF HE STICKS TO SIMPLY CALLING THE PLAYS AND LETS PLEASANT COACH HOW THE SCHEME IS PLAYED THIS COULD BE A VERY GOOD DEFENSIVE UNIT.

THERE I YELLED CUZ I DIDN'T WANT THERE TO BE ANYONE MISTAKING WHAT I'M SAYING. I SAID THE 2021 ROSTER WAS A VERY GOOD ROSTER AND FEW BELIEVED ME. SO I DON'T CARE IF ANYONE BELIEVES ME NOW. I'M A HOMER? DAMN RIGHT!
Its ok if you're wrong too, hahaha........ nothing wrong with feeling that way at all and we all would be pumped if the team does well. I personally see a bottom 5 team so far. Just too many youngsters.

That 2001 Defense had a ton of new players but it also included a ton of highly drafted players.

Lewis, Pickett, Archuleta and Polley mentioned above. The first three were #1s; and Polley was a #2. Wistrom and Fields were former first round picks; Herring and McCleon were former second rounders; and Williams was an elite DB and future Hall of Famer.

I think Donald is the only projected 2023 starter on Defense that was drafted in the 1st or 2nd round.

Sure but we also know HOW those players turned out. Save for Pickett and Wistrom, underperformers or busts across the board. And I would argue Pickett wasn't great for us (he was better for GB). Re Williams, you're right. If only we had an elite future hall of famer on the defense this year...

Agree 100% Frank but (again) that has Nothing To Do with my initial post on this topic.

Another poster wrote the following:
'Someone pointed out to me, the Rams did something similar with the defense in 2001.'

I responded that while the 2001 Defense also had a lot of new and young players, that was a group that the Rams Heavily Invested in with high draft choices, free agency money and through trade acquisitions.
THAT was very different than the current Defense where the Rams have invested only mid-to-low draft picks, no significant free agent money and no trade acquisitions.

My point had Nothing To Do with how the 2001 Defense ultimately turned-out.

Were comparing the two defenses....it's a good thing. We know that the 2001 defense was chalk full of busts and underperformers and still ended up an elite unit.

In fact, I think our pass rushers were probably worse overall in 2001 because at least we have AD

Understood.

I was Not comparing the two defenses.

I was responding to a post that suggested the 2001 and 2023 defenses were put together in the same way ... when, they Really were Not.

Two different topics.

To join your topic of 'comparing the two defenses', we can only hope this year's unit is as productive as the 2001 Defense which was 7th best in points allowed (17.1) and had 45 sacks. Those numbers would be great.

That 2001 group did not age well but it was productive in 2001.

Nothing wrong with fans being all hyped up about their team before the season. If reality is going to come crashing in on this roster, which seems likely, it's gonna suck whether we saw it coming or not. So for this reason I do tend to let myself get a little high on the team in the early going.

That said there aren't many around here saying Super Bowl. It's seemed to be more a question of whether we can sneak into the playoffs.

I walked by the radio guys talking about The Rams win total & the first game against Seattle.
I’m realistic, but it’s unrealistic to think The Rams can’t beat Seattle or any other team. I yelling any given Sunday. Didn’t have time to give them crap.

This Rams team is as good as any The Rams have had. There is a neat little mix they have.

I’m going to continue to say it. Brycen Hopkins is The Real Deal!! He is dialed in.

Many out there don’t understand or have simply not bought into our current strategy of bringing in a huge draft class (plus a large group of second year players and undrafted rookies) and hoping that a few emerge to create a foundation that can be combined with our remaining stars and future additions (2024 draft picks and FA signings) to vault us back into contention.

Maybe it’s outside the norm, risky and a little crazy.

But if it works, we’ll eat like kings!
I think we’re eating well in 2024!
