Draft Edge in round 2 or 3 and sign Arden Key. Hoect as rotational edge. Draft another ILB to pair with EJ II. Hummel/Rozeboom as rotational.Depending on Leonard Floyd, we need a reliable edge and a run stuffer in the middle now that Wagner is gone.
Well I suffered through a couple Denver games this year and he looked like a sack of shit on quite a few plays. So I don't see him as a quality FA, I see him as a guy you sign as a "still developing his game" type so not peanuts but somewhere like Hav is at.Doesn't that mean you are probably not gonna sign him? Doesn't a team have to overpay for a quality FA?

If he's gonna be drawing the level of top starter pay then I'd be out of the running on him.i
Thumb twittler @LoyalI don't know enough guys who play the unglamorous positions on other teams to comment. So I will comment about not commenting...

We have discussed this for many years now. Yes, all teams will always vastly overpay for healthy good veteran OL'ers. Always! The same goes for the very few college OL'ers who are further along in their development these prospects are also drafted way early.Yeah I think Dalton's a great target. Unless his price goes too high on the market because he's still got some shit to prove. Just don't overpay him.
Literally perfect if we can afford.

So you have to add in this discussion the fact that most college OL'ers are not prepped for the NFL thus teams must do all the coaching up to be able to contribute on game day & its takes years.
One of the reasons I was positive about the resigning of their own UFA OL'ers Noteboom & Allen but I did not consider their injury-prone resumes to be a deal breaker.
I was just plain wrong & off my game there. It IS a BIG mistake this team has to deal with another problem instead of a fix, these 2 signings had & have come at a great cost $$$ & contributed heavily in bringing McVay his first losing season & almost his retirement.
Rams current OL roster is bad! I believe there is no real solid map in my mind on the preferred path forward to fix these Ram OL problems. I am just so glad it's not me charged with the responisibiliy to do it, my next stop..... unemployment line & shopping at a thift store for goods.
I said similar things in preseason, but the optimists wouldn’t hear it.We have discussed this for many years now. Yes, all teams will always vastly overpay for healthy good veteran OL'ers. Always! If the Rams were a running offense then Rob Havenstein would be that one stud. However, we are a passing-first offense thus making our best most experienced OL'er Havenstein 100% eunuch. Think on that for a while the Rams made a great run-blocking RT into an OL'er that teams plan to attack Sundays.I said similar things in preseason, but the optimists wouldn’t hear it.
I hated that the Rams painted themselves into a corner with Allen and Noteboom. They had no choice but to resign them. Had they drafted Humphrey it at least would have softened the blow.
Coaching can only take a position group so far. A few studs on the line is a must.
Draft + get our guys healthy.jrry32,
So no Offensive Linemen? Did I read that correctly? If not what do you propose we do to fix our OL?

I disagree you were not off your game we all were. I imagine everyone after the SF and AZ game in 2021 we felt Noteboom would be fine, well we all were wrong - he sucks period and should be a backup. As for Allen injuries happen, I learned a big evaluation lesson on Saffold. I bitched when we drafted him he had a ton of injuries at Indiana and his first several seasons with us excluding the first one he was injured constantly. Yet he turned it around not sure how but he did.We have discussed this for many years now. Yes, all teams will always vastly overpay for healthy good veteran OL'ers. Always! OG Dalton Risner
ILB Devin Bush
RB D'Ernest Johnson
WR OBj
Really like D'Ernest...dude can ball, needs an opportunity.
Thanks. Seems both Bush & Johnson should be quite affordable, OBj I only take if we get him on a one year prove-it deal where we load him up with incentives instead of a huge base salary. Dalton won't be cheap, but he's young and reasonably priced if he comes in under $10M. per year. Signing him long-term (4 years) will get us a very large discounted CAP hit for 2023 with a back-loaded contract, so it's 2024 and beyond where his price stacks up more. A vet like Dalton at LG should help us ease in Jackson/Nsekhe at LT and hopefully a new starting Center, I'd guess the transition would be far better than if we were attempting to start Anchrum or Brewer at LG, so the Dalton expense appears more than justifiable. A moderately cheap RB, ILB, WR and OG in free agency should free up our drafting scheme somewhat, allowing us to fill those other coveted positions we so desperately require thru trades and good drafting.
I've come around to embracing a Ramsey trade if the compensation is proper, a 1'st and 3'rd should probably get it done. jmo.
Agree.Id love Johnson in our mix in the RB room!
