All these guys signing a one year deal makes me think maybe we overvalued them as Rams players. The rest of the league doesn't seem to value them as much. Maybe losing them isn't as devastating as we think?
This thought has occurred to me also. Though I think each case has it's own parameters.
For example Greg Gaines played with injuries last year and his numbers dropped as a result.
Bobby Wagner is 34 y/o and will be on a year to year basis.
Troy Hill is a journeyman and is being treated accordingly.
Same with Riley Dixon.
But yeah, mebbe we as fans think more highly of our Rams than others in the NFL..

I think people around here may be surprised by the hole Rapp leaves, yes he wasn't a guy you want in coverage outside of 5 - 10 yds but he was a physical presence and a solid tackler.

If this is indeed true maybe Morris was doing more with less and isn't deserving of the board whooping boy

Gets mighty cold in Buffalo and the hits feel like your body is crashing into an iceberg. He has that to look forward to in the winter.
Meanwhile, December, back in California

That is a part of it. I don’t know many here that were enthused with Rapp’s play. However many acknowledge that his skill set didn’t fit the Fangio defense. I expected Rapp would leave. If you recall he didn’t quite mesh with his Rams teammates.

The biggest losses imo are Gaines and AShawn.

Jourdan pointed out that as McVay became less available to players last season, Morris had much more on his plate as a veteran coach than just his defensive scheme and player fit.

But, yes. The Rams secondary was not scaring anyone, even with Ramsey in the mix. There were too many other weak points in it.

Rams don't give Safeties a 2nd contract. That's not how they want to use the cap. I don't think they'll be keeping Ernest Jones when his deal is up next season. They will move on.

I'm pretty sure we will be seeing a lot of that frustrating bend don't break style of defense this season. But if the numbers aren't that far off last year's, then maybe the guys we lost were not as valuable as we thought. Most of them signed a one year deal. That might be telling in and of itself.

The question I’ll ask you is ,who will be The Rams starting LBers.

LMAO - I find it funny(fun) that this is not a subject, but all THE HATERS talk about is how bad Raheem Morris & The Rams defense is. Just looking forward to draft & OTA’s.

I am going to look real close to see where Buffalo plays Rapp in their defense.

I always felt that the Rams misplayed Rapp. He should have been played as primarily a strong safety close to the line with occasional times played back to disguise the defense.

Rapp does a lot of ankle tackling so the cold may not be so bad for him.

It will be interesting to see how the Bills use him. Closer to the line would be better.

Rapp and Long were picked on relentlessly when in coverage. They were the two biggest holes in our defense in coverage.

But Rapp was solid near the line as a tackler. He could also float back and get some picks in the short zone.

Addition by subtraction for our defense. Bust pick at 61st overall.
Yeah both Rapp & Scott just require to be utilized in box roles and both are fine. Both have the potential to give great return to their new teams as well, if that happens. Gonna miss both of them but they had to go.
