Ok, we've had the other thread about the most gut-wrenching losses, now it's time to flush those bad memories from our system and replace them with good ones. So let's hear your sweetest Rams wins, I'll go first.
- SB 34 ... this one is pretty obvious, will be the most referenced one in this thread I bet.
- Breaking the streak against the 49ers. God that was sweet. I had a feeling going into the game that this was the time and sure enough it was. The Rams teased them just enough to let them close to within 8 points before Tony Horne kicked them right square in the middle of their man-panties with the 97 yard kickoff return. Then Warner threw the FU touchdown to Bruce to put the Rams up by 22 points. We could have scored more, but we kneeled down at the end, showing mercy to them, which made it more humiliating. My cheeks were hurting from smiling so much, and it was a gift that kept on giving. Some people don't remember that the 49ers were 3-1 going into that game. They were 1-11 the rest of the way, and it was the Rams that beat the life out of them, destroyed any remnants of their mystique, and sent their season into a tailspin. How sweet is that, baby?
- The 2004 comeback at Seattle. They were sooooo cocky when the were up 27-10, and we just chipped away at them until we pulled to a tie. You could see on their faces they were worried, and when Bulger connected with MacDonald in overtime, all their fears were justified.
- The 2004 wild card win at Seattle. Remember Matt Hasselbeck on the ground after Bobby Ingram dropped the last ditch pass? To steal a line from Dieter of the SNL sketch "Sprockets", his agony was gorgeous.
- The 1985 divisional playoff game against Dallas, when Dickerson ran over, around, and through the Cowboys "defense" for a postseason record 248 yards. We shut them out to boot, the only time the Cowboys were ever shut out in the postseason.
- The 1989 Wild Card win at Philadelphia. Wiped the smirk right off Buddy Ryan's face. They still had a chance late in the 4th until that huge run by Greg Bell just sucked the life right out of them. They said the Rams were soft, and yet the Rams went into their house and punked their asses.
- The 1979 Divisional playoff win at Dallas. I can still hear the deafening silence that fell over Texas Stadium when Ferragamo hit Waddy for the game winner. Plus, we made Roger Staubach a loser in his final NFL game, at home no less. Suck it, Roger.
- The 2001 NFC championship. Best job of in-game coaching ever by Mike Martz. They tried to take the pass away with extra db's, and did a decent job of slowing down our offense. So Martz came out in the second half and called something like seven straight running plays to Faulk, as the Rams drove right down the field. Even though we had to settle for a FG, the tempo was established for the second half, and Jim Johnson's defensive playcalling was discombobulated for the rest of the game - playing run when we passed and playing pass when we ran.
Looking forward to hearing yours.
