The Bengals have a very stout run defense between the tackles. IMO the yardage in the run game will come on the perimeter. Make those big guys run sideline to sideline and eventually it will wear them down. I think McVay will try to pull out his outside zone run attack.

The normal scheme the Bengals use is a base nickel, i.e. 4-2-5. But their DL is stout against the run between the tackles. That is why I think we will see more of a perimeter run game. Their two LBs will probably be Pratt and Wilson both of whom have good positional speed and size. Pratt is a converted safety so he has coverage skills but IMO Wilson is their primary coverage guy.

As good as the Bengals have played the run I think it's deceptive as a lot of it reflects them playing with a lead. So I think McVay can't go away from the run game and he must stay balanced. Success in both run and pass will begin to get them on their heels. The key is success on the ground because if there is a weakness on the Bengals its in their secondary. That is why they play a base nickel. IMO get Akers or Michel into the secondary and there will be yardage to be had. Force them to drop a safety into the box to stop the run and their secondary will be vulnerable.

McVay and Morris must win the coaching game to win this Super Bowl. Last time, McVay got outcoached because he made too many assumptions that simply were wrong. I think the way the Bengals play the pass Higbee or Blanton must have a big game which could be the difference.

I think SF were giving up 3.1 yards per carry in their last few games. Tampa had also shored up their run game down the stretch. The only poor run defense we faced of the three games was Arizona. So basically the Rams survived the worst defensive matchup last weekend.

Cincy is not a stout run defense. They surrendered 4.5 ypc over the season. In the playoffs the Raiders gashed them with 13 for 83 (6.3 ypc), Titans 24 for 128 (5.3 ypc), and the Chiefs 21 for 120 (5.7 ypc). I will note that Cincy did a good job vs Derrick Henry but that other dude shredded their defense.

IF the Rams run the ball with any sort of determination they will roll this Bengals defense.

I agree that the Rams need to run the ball IF Cincy is dropping 8 guys in coverage. I remember Mahomes running around like a chicken with his head cut off because no one was open, and he had 10 seconds to throw! Hopefully McVay doesn't fall for this and pounds the running game until the Bengals start to adjust. With only 3 guys rushing Stafford, the O-line should be able to open up gaping hoes for Aikers and Michele. And if the ground game is working, they will eat up the clock and keep the Cincy offense on the sidelines. Go Rams!

200 total yards from scrimmage for Akers. I think it's there if the Rams want it.

The Rams run game isn't top of the league but it's better than people realize. And I think Akers underneath on dumps and screens will be very hard for Cincy to stop. They won't be ready for that when they're focusing on Kupp and Odell. Cincy has good ILBs but Akers is a badass in his own right.

If he isn't sharp then roll Michel in there and stick to the run. And use him on draws. I'm telling you... Michel on draws from the shotgun when teams assume he will be pass blocking. That would be the truth.
I agree with imposing the offenses will on the Bengals defense by committing to a strong run game. Using Akers but not forgetting Michel.

WARNING - this video has no football content. it just looks at the clean up going on around the airport and stadium. it's a pretty grim look at the homeless situation. but nobody visiting during superbowl week will ever know about it.

plus we get to see what adam sandler will look like in 20 years.

Yeah, as someone who was homeless once upon a time (thankfully, I never had to live on the streets, but I was stuck in a psychiatric ward for two months after my group home kicked me out and a hotel for another month, looking for a place to stay and not finding one.), it's really...sad to see this. It makes me think of William Hayes and Chris Long. It was a while ago (a while since I was homeless as well, 2015.), but those things always stuck with me.

I really hope that the city helps, but this...this is not it. Not by hiding it away to make themselves look good.

I'm trying to keep this all in perspective.

If we lost that would be the third Super Bowl loss I witnessed. Fourth for my dad and a lot of you guys.

But damn is it cool to be here. And despite what the media says, this team is set up for success as long as Stafford is around.

Everyone talking about Burrow, Chase, and Higgins. Very understandable, all are studs. Burrow and Chase are legit superstars 100%. Higgins is very good. Their slot Tyler Boyd is also a solid player. But not enough people are talking about Joe Mixon who is also a borderline star. 2nd in the NFL in yards at RB. He's a monster. The Bengals have probably the best weapons in the NFL, all skill positions considered. But their OL is weak, and their defense is average. So we are the better team overall. Would much rather face them than the Chiefs thats for sure.
I hope we hit Mixon as hard and as violently as he hit's a girl.

One sad element of L.A. and much of So. Cal. having such great weather is its growing homeless population, many of which are from out of state or town, and the many who actually should be receiving care in mental health institutions. It's shameful that our government leaders haven't addressed this as high a priority as it is for them to comfort the elitists who live behind their grand walls and can escape the day to day misery that so many are subject to. L.A. has many abandoned industrial buildings that could be rehabbed into living quarters where the homeless could set up camps, where security, food service and proper sanitation might be installed. Rather than shuffling these poor people about so we can pretend they don't exist, and placing the burden on local businesses, residences and the police, ... federal, state and local dollars combined with private funds shouldn't be that hard of a fix. No one is talking about building them a utopian shangri-la, just a safe and secure environment where they can rest their heads at night, eat a sandwich or a bowl of soup, and cover the 3 s's in the morning.

It's nice that you guys think you can fix the homeless problem and some of society's other ills but does it have to be in the pregame thread?

We know they are doing this before the Super Bowl. What are they doing to help the people they moved out due to eye sore? It’s a bad situation for everyone involved.

They mentioned that a bunch during the Pro Bowl. Wonder if it’s a contract thing.

This morning on the way to the office, BTW I'm moving to another building on Friday because of my new position and that building is literally 5 minutes from my house, I'm actually going to walk to work when the weather breaks and for me in Upstate, NY that's May, please no comment @Loyal

Anyway I won't have 20-25 minute travel time to listen, but on Fox Sports Nick Wright, Chris Broussard & Mark Wiles & Kevin Wildes did admit they all thought the Rams would win the game. Wright felt the matchup for the Bengals was bad because of Ramsey on Chase & the Rams DL against the Bengals OL. Broussard felt the Rams would win, but it would be close, Wildes felt it would be more like the Arizona game then the San Francisco game so I hope Wildes is correct, but just goes to show you as the game gets closer, you get their true picks.
