It's a bit early to call Mcvay overrated. None of us are happy with the last game but you have to keep things in perspective. Mcvay (and Snead) took a pitiful offense and made it "1" in a single year. And it continued like that for 5 straight years, two super bowls, and a Lombardi! I understand the strategy of "run it back" too, but injuries killed the team last year. I didn't think they had a chance anyway, losing so many all stars off that super bowl roster, but the strategy this year was to reduce the cap and that's what we're seeing now.
With the roster purged, Mcvay has to work with what he has and it ain't much. The line is inconsistent, the backs have had issues, and Kupp missed a lot of time and it shows. Still... the Rams offense has played well at times. Aside from this game, the Rams could have easily been 4-3 or even 5-2 if they got lucky.
I get what you're saying, and many of us have complained about the play calling at times, but look at the roster this year and remember the strategy going forward. The bottom line is that it's way too early to call McVay overrated. JMO.
