I don't know if it's McVay playing to what Staff likes to do, or if it's McVays inability to admit his scheme isn't working, but these long drawn out plays that take a few seconds to develop is what's killing us. We have faced THE BEST defenses in the league. What do yall expect our oline to do against these defenses when our playcalling is predictable and goes against what the defense is giving us? We keep trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I think a couple players are also playing through some injuries. I know Jackson was playing great until he injured his groin, and has taken a step back ever since.

Too many times I see teams play us like San Fran does, short quick passes in the flat that keep us honest and move the chains. It works. Why McVay refuses to do the same when we go against stacked defenses boggles my mind.

So is Staff done? If we keep playing like this, then yes.

Need a better o-line. Avila was a start, but a good LT and another interior lineman would help that side. The defense needs the biggest overhaul. We need another edge, 2 DBs, a safety, linebackers aka anyone better than the discount players we have on that side. We are talent deficient in a lot of areas. Last, don't ever start Kendrick after this year. He's a special teams player at best.

McVay has a "Stafford" problem. He's so enamored with Matthew's arm talent that it has distorted his view of how games are won.

McVay was a better coach when he had less talented QBs.
I have to agree. Their collaboration has not been consistently good. Some mentioned the Rams don't do the short quick passing game, but it's the quick game that's been making huge mistakes. That little quick stick route that Watt picked off, then the quick out on probably an option route that got picked in the last game, both targeting Kupp. These plays are being sat on because McVay and Stafford are very predictable in their adjustments if a Defense presents a certain structure.

WTF happened to our OL though? They were looking much better a few weeks ago. Nobody was talking about a weak OL after we played the 9ers, and they have a fucking stellar DL.
The Dallas rush happened. They whipped us up front.

But aside from this game and the fact our line is not good enough once again I do think Stafford warrants criticism. My biggest complaint is his panicked throws the moment the rush gets a hit or two on him. The guy is tough but he has been squandering downs and being part of the problem even when protections are there.

I don't think he is done but playing the way he has been playing is causing loss of faith. And don't think for a moment the Rams are immune to that.

Still a lot of games to play. He needs to play better after the bye and put a run together. But then you get into the question of whether the Rams want a run at that point. Maybe they are thinking of manufacturing an IR excuse and a top ten pick.

Yeah the guys been to 2 Super Bowls, won 1, all before he is 37 years old, yeah he's garbage.....
You left out the part that he took over a team who hadnt had a winning record in 14 years, averaging less than 5 wins a season over that span....
One man's garbage is clearly the Rams treasure

I think the Rams need to start looking at future QB options in the draft. Stafford seems a bit off after the last two games in the face of heavy pressure. I worry about injuries with him.

However, people forget that any QB down 3-33 is going to struggle against one of the best pass rushing defenses in the NFL. After five minutes of bad football when the Cowboys had a flurry of success combined with a flurry of Rams miscues, Stafford was behind the eight ball. The Rams proved that they cannot deal with blitzes or other extra pass rushers and that’s what they’ll get when the opponent has a big lead.

McVay didn’t seem to be prepared for that occurrence. Maybe the quick, short passing game or extra blockers are not in the playbook or on the roster. When Higbee went down we saw that Brycen Hopkins couldn’t block at all. Tutu is too small to block a charging safety. I don’t think Kupp looks 100%. Nacua is a rookie who rarely blocked in college. I loved that Skowronek got involved. The team is a bit lacking in bigger stronger types when they are in that situation. Stafford or any QB will struggle with that pass rush in their face.

Yep. This makes him great forever and ever regardless of current events or how the League changes around him and he doesn't adjust. I stand corrected. He's great FOREVER because of 2017 thru 2021 even though we traded EVERY Draft pick known to man to get it done.

Boy if it was just that easy I guess every team would be trading ALL their draft picks to win a Super Bowl huh???

Stafford's not done. But if McVay continues to pass with deep-developing routes and a below-average O-line then Stafford will be done sooner rather than later.

Well all I originally stated was that Mac was "overrated," did not say either he sucks or we should replace him. Then folks countered with past history, which is fair, but what about CURRENT and very recent history? What about FUTURE history? Just dont think he's the Offensive guru he definitely WAS when he came on the scene in '17. Deficient in other areas that doesn't overcome NOT being an Offensive genius. Very Martz like. Actually wonder if Head Coach will be his long term job. I think he will bounce back and forth between Television and Coaching eventually.

Stafford isn't close to done. He looked great to start the year when the o-line was holding up. The man can still sling it with the best of them and his arm is showing no signs of decline.

Yes, he has thrown some costly INTs, including pick 6s, but he did the same in our Super Bowl year. Anyone remember his pathetic display vs. the Titans? People thought he was done then too.... until a few weeks later, he put together one of the best playoff runs of QB play I've seen, with tons of come-back wins on the road against very tough opposition, and countless big-time throws in the most clutch of moments that had extreme degrees of difficulty and tight windows. INTs are part of being a gun slinger. Favre was the same. You just have to take the good with the bad with this style of QB.

The problem with Stafford is that we have a poor offensive line and poor running game (especially now with Williams' on IR) which is really handicapping the passing game. And he isn't mobile enough to deal with that. And to top it all off, often times, poor play calling as well, with long developing passing plays that put him at risk of taking hits, with this being called non-step even at times when the opposing defense is showing they are feasting by pinning their ears back. No surprise, he is banged up. First the hip, now the thumb, and the injuries are really compromising his performance IMO.

#9 still has it but he won't succeed in this ecosystem. He probably has a 2, 3, maybe even 4 good years left, or at least of legit starting QB caliber, if we can keep him relatively clean to let him defy age like Rodgers and Brady. But his contract is huge and the decline is coming sooner rather than later. If he does not play again in 2023, it is plausible the Rams don't win another game. That would give the Rams a very good shot at QB and this draft class, for the first time in a while, has a few very good options that I think will be bonafide starters for many years. I'd take one, keep building the o-line, and let him sit and learn behind Stafford for one year with the plan being to have him takeover when #9's contract expires.

Just dont want to hear about 2017 and the turn around from the Jeff Fisher era EVERY TIME a current day legitimate criticism of McVay arises.
