No. No way.

The Rams won playoff games with Goff. Stafford has never won a playoff game.

For Stafford to get to "House Money", he's got to win at least two playoff games this season.

No wins and Stafford is still the guy who's never won a playoff game.

Not in agreement with your take.

Stafford has a history of never winning a playoff game as starting QB over a decade in the league.

He's playing with house money.

Goff was in his third year (not playing with house money) and made it to the SB because of a horrible non call at New Orleans.

Night and Day difference IMO...

Goff had his shot to win a SB and blew it.

Comparing these QB's by how far Stafford takes them in the playoffs has no merit for me.

If Stafford can't lead the Rams to the divisional round, I will give your post more credibility.

Waiting to see the outcome of the Rams - Cardinals game.

Until then, I won't make any concrete statements or judgements.

A different year.. Different QB's and a different playoff format.

We will know more after Monday night.

Scary thing is young QBs like Burrow & Allen look more poised than Stafford.

On the contrary, Stafford looks very confident and purposeful.

Burrow and Allen do look poised but I can’t agree with your opinions on Stafford.

There’s a lot of pushback on this thread topic.

I’ve said enough.

I guess we have very, very different definitions of "playing with house money."

To me, that means anything from here would be a bonus for Stafford, not an expectation. This team, this organization has made the playoffs 4 out of 5 years, so it's fair to call that the baseline for the season. That would mean getting to the playoffs is even money.

Losing in the first game? You've literally won nothing. Winning the first game? You've accomplished something and, you can argue, anything after that would be playing with "house money."

You have to win something to be playing with house money and, compared to the Rams baseline, Stafford hasn't won anything yet.

Get back to me after the game Monday night.

Get back to me again after the divisional round.

Get back to me again after the NFC Championship game.

Oh, and get back to me after the SB.

Obviously, if the Rams are one and done you won't have get back to me the second they are eliminated.

We know Stafford's a gunslinger...and I'm really fine with that...but let's be honest...17 picks are a lot.

Yup and Goff never threw that many. Goff threw 8 INTs this year with a horrible OL in front of him.

Stafford is who he is and he's still learning. I will judge his play next year after he has a chance to get his timing with his receivers.

The guy who scares me is Morris and his poor schemes and poor adjustments. Talk about someone who is erractic, don't forget about Morris. He will do something that works only to go away from it. It seems like he simply doesn't do his film work. I swear he calls a game like he's winging it, not like a DC who is confident in his knowledge of the opposition.

Wolford helped The Rams get into the playoffs.Bryce Perkins gets another off season so he is house money.Learning under Matthew Stafford is actually priceless for him.
The Rams kept him on the roster all season & that was only because of this new Covid practice squad rule.
Jared Goff ? Well his name is in The Rams history books. He was signed to a big contract that he was never going to live up to ? I still wonder, especially after this last Sunday though. In 2019 he had The Rams in position to make the playoffs. His pick 6 was killer.Same type of loss. The Niners went to the SuperBowl.

Monday night is the real test.I’ve been disappointed in Rob Havenstien play as of late.Maybe Watt is the perfect DE for him to be match up with though?
I like Morris & believe it is the offense that is the biggest problem.
There is a lot of layers I believe that is the problem & Mcvay blames himself & deserves to be accountable.

I got the gist of your post. Never thought you were not in his corner.

Never thought you would close your eyes and ignore your concerns.

My point:

Stafford's not expected to win a playoff game.

If he does, he won't be expected to win a second playoff in the divisional round.

If he does, he won't be expected to win the NFC Championship game.

If he does, he won't be expected to win the Super Bowl.

Therefore, Stafford is playing with house money...

Actuallly, I think Stafford will play well and hope he does. I'm just saying things I see about him that scares me about this game.

I don't think it's all on Stafford either, I think McVay's playcalling gets suspect. It seemed to me at the start of the season Stafford had more liberty to change plays at the LOS...not so sure about that now.

Are the picks that he threw over the last month a result of trying to get the ball to OBJ when nothing is really there? It seems at least plausible that he is trying to force the issue and play hero-ball and friend with OBJ. I don't have a list in my head but it seems to be the case with OBJ. Stafford only threw 9 INT for the first 13 games and then fell down a rabbit hole. Coincides with OBJ getting a more prominent role.

The good thing is, you can reign him back a bit and hope he stops this crap. I hate holding my breath every single time he throws the ball.

Hard to say. Most likely forced out of desperation. He needs to learn to throw it away or tuck and run when nothing is there. Anything is better than a TO

Don't get me wrong...I'm pretty happy with Stafford's play...but I think we have to talk about these issues where he really has problems:

1. Pressure up the middle...which reminds me of Goff. Stafford has problems escaping this pressure and it seems he just can't see it coming.

2. In tight games Stafford seems to really have accuracy issues...ESPECIALLY on short passes either throwing high or into the ground. Really noticed in the SF game..just flat tentative throws.

3. INTs!!! Nuff said.

Let's talk about this because I think one thing McVay MUST DO is roll Stafford out of the pocket more this game to give him more time...and also call more quick 6-7 yard passes and keep the Cards D off balance!
Most qbs struggle with pressure up the middle, you don’t even have to touch Brady if you come up the middle. Nobody wants their head bouncing off the turf so they turtle.

Stafford gets a partial pass from me as this is his first year and he's not 100% in sync with anyone but Kupp and Higbee. He's a work in progress in this offense which is more complicated than most seem to realize. Both the QB and receivers must read the route options the same for it to work. OBJ is obviously still learning the offense. Jefferson is in a new position (replacing Woods).

Next year there are no excuses, but this year there are mitigating circumstances.
Sorry I disagree. After 13 years in the league he has seen everything. He has been working with is group through the off-season pre-season and all 17 games if he doesn't have it down by now he is the wrong QB for us. Football is football wr routes are the same whether in Det or LA.

We've heard repeatedly that McVay's offense is the most complicated in the NFL and incoming offensive players have attested to this.

McVay has been known to add a lot of new plays for each install and anyone who's not Stafford or Kupp has to super study up to understand what the offense is trying to accomplish with each play beyond the obvious of moving the ball forward.

We also interchange our WRs AND expect them to run option routes based on the D being zone or man and the coverage. That takes time to get.

Next year, Stafford will be significantly better with respect to understanding what McVay is trying to accomplish and playing within the system as will OBJ... and Stafford should have a better ability to distribute the ball than this year.

Will OBJ be there?

Will the line be as good as it was this year?

What is Woods going to look like?

Is this the offseason McVay actually goes all-in on making the Oline more physical and takes the lumps that could come with developing it?

WELL...I'm so very happy none of the "issues" came up!!!

Stafford played a magnificent game and made great decisions. He made it look easy!

Most of all...McVay actually stayed balanced and called great plays!

Now we need to keep it going headed to Tampa!

JUST ONE STEP AT A TIME!!!
