Of course it is. He's got the vanity of Farve/Rodgers, and ensures he's in the media every year
You're a great poster and I've enjoyed your contributions for years. I think you're way off base on this though. There is no evidence, ever, anywhere in his long and distinguished career, of Stafford being anything other than a team first class act.

Fucking eye roll.

This was obviously the plan all along. Ger another team to offer a deal see what they're offering and give him a fair deal that both sides can agree on.

Yeah Stafford’s and Rodgers’ reputation in league circles couldn’t be further apart. Rodgers is heavy handed behind the scenes, demanding his team trade for his old teammates. Getting coaches hired/fired. He’s *A LOT* to deal with.

All Stafford has done is trying to get paid what he felt he earned and was worth. He won this team a ring and outplayed his contract in 3 of the 4 years he’s been here. 32 out of 32 owners would rather have Stafford leading their lockerroom at this point.

Stafford returns. Awesome.

Now inject some speed and explosives into our skill position rooms.

Looking forward to the draft. We’re close.

That’s how it works. Ravens did the same with Lamar a few years ago. Only difference is Stafford is choosing to play for less money in LA than he would’ve gotten in LV or NY.

I would ask add the assumption of the raiders and Giants not wanting to part w their first round picks

correct -- for everyone saying we've got a lot of work to do... we were 14 yards + a lay-up win vs. WAS from the Superbowl, and prolly beat the Chefs handily.
Add some speed at WR? a CB1? that 4.3 RB kid? a TE weapon?? this draft actually plays into what we need.

He's been the talk of the team each off season
2021- The trade during SB week
2022- the contract extension
2023- Will he retire? Neck injury (1st year of new deal)
2024- Contract renegotiation
2025- Contract renegotiation
Look I love the guy for what he does for the team on the field, but give me one off season when what he's going to do isnt the big issue
End of the day, I'm just happy he's staying

Really?
How much is he getting and how much did he turn down?
You seem to have facts that nobody else has

Right but to me this is why Snead didn’t have quite as much leverage as people thought. He had leverage over the $ figure, but not the trade partner. He never once was like “fellow GMs…send me your best offers for Matthew Stafford”. He gave Stafford and his agent permission to talk to other teams to see what his value was. And if other teams valued Stafford more than the Rams, then the Rams would work out a trade if that’s what Stafford wanted.

But there was never one second where Stafford was in danger of being shipped off to New Orleans or some hellhole like that because that’s who gave Snead the best offer.

I mean the reports are that both LV and NY offered him around $100M guaranteed. That’s more than he will get with the Rams over the next 2 seasons, is it not?

We don't know the details of the contract yet but I'd assume he turned down more money.

That isnt true.
The Rams consistently said the same things over and over. They wanted to negotiate with him and allowed him to ascertain his value. They were only trading him if they couldnt come to a financial agreement. Period, end, stop.

and they were only going to trade him to a team that was willing to pay him. which is why every nfl reporter worth their salt had the Raiders and the Giants as the 2 other finalists. Because those were the teams willing to pay Stafford what he wanted.

It’s obviously very personal with you and Stafford for whatever reason, but the notion that Snead woulda sent him anywhere regardless of Stafford’s wishes is just not grounded in facts or any historical basis in recent NFL history.
