It’s too late for that, so let’s hope he can turn it around enough so that special teams do not torpedo our season

Even better, how about they flip the field for the first time all season by creating a fumble recovery! That and create points themselves from a kick off or punt - for the first time in Blackburn’s reign! The longest return is 43 yards the entire time he’s been here! That’s piss poor…

That’s not all on the returners! It’s perhaps more about how bad the blocking scheme is and how poorly it’s executed. No single returner has made it work so it’s more likely the scheme and coaching.

Jack Lambert used to play on all of the STs with his he steelers back in the day. Remember a cowboy ragging the steeler kicker (Gerela) after a missed FG in the SB. Lambert grabbed him and threw him down on his ass—right in front of the ref. When the cowboy came up crying, the ref just walked away.
 
We’ve got a little over 2 weeks to try and go from a bad special teams unit to mediocre. Hard but not impossible. We just need some basic levels of competency.

McVay doesn't fire coaches in season.... ever as far as I can recall. He had to have been livid after that game.
