It's not like it takes much for a meltdown in the GDT. Some of our fans are straight up quitters at the first sign of adversity in a game lol. Honorary Frenchies tbh. Would suck to be in any adverse situation with some of you fucks.

I'd take it a step further.

Stafford played an incredible game when you consider that the OL was pushed back on every single play.

The TD pass to Higs, pass to Kupp, the flawlessly executed PA TD pass to Higbee.

The first INT was basically a punt so no harm done since it was 3rd and 17.

The long pass to Kupp when nobody blocked Armstrong on a 3rd and long on our last TD drive.

Escaped pressure multiple times and threw the ball into the ground, which is what we've been wanting him to start doing.

Honestly this may have been his best game of the year when you consider the circumstances. Our OL didn't get beaten that badly in any other game all year.

He played a lot better than most realize. But the bottom line is he didn't lead us to at least a field goal on that final possession. What led to him shooting his wad there on a jump ball to OBJ we'll never know. Might be that McVay said "let's give OBJ a shot here." But either way he didn't place the ball properly, so he missed in a crucial situation.

The good thing here is the guy is developing some really nice control of this offense. The first half was a fucking clinic for the most part in how to get through reads and dish it quick. So I don't think he's the biggest element in whether we can make comebacks in the playoffs.

I think the OL pass protecting is the biggest element. Stafford has a certain level of protection he requires. If the pass pro dips below that he goes into hero mode. He's a vet QB it's who he is. It's not going to change. So for us to make a run we are going to need better pass pro. Period.

Can this OL play well vs the teams we're seeing? Maybe. Either way I'm going to enjoy it even if it's a one and done thing. I will never be so spoiled as a fan that I can't appreciate being there in that playoff moment. I just hope for 9's sake that he can take advantage of this opportunity, but he's gonna need enough protections to do it.

I haven’t been able to watch it yet but has anyone looked at the 40 yd catch and run? Did Jalen get got on that play? He was diving to try to knock it down but was that because he guessed wrong instead of keeping the play in front and making the tackle?

Then I watched the first replay and saw him peel off to help a WR that was already covered, leaving HIS responsibility open. His dive was his attempt to make up for what he had done.

I still love the guy, but sometimes you have to stow that priceless confidence in his ability to recover, and just take your guy OUT OF THE PLAY. If he sticks to him as designed, that's his second INT and we win this game.

Silver lining: Kupp, Whitworth, and Ashawn had good games. Our LBs, Guards, and secondary struggled mightily.

Let’s hope McVay took to heart what not to do and stays with what works. It’s as if the first half was from 2018 and the second half was from week 10. A real twilight zone episode. If not for Cooper Kupp and the 4th quarter TD drive, I would have said the Rams threw the game.

1. Leave the punting to the punter.
2. The TD to Kupp was absolutely stellar, as were a couple other throws on that drive. He was great in the first half too.
3. The OL did not play well. You're right. But that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes. We gave up what we did for Stafford to overcome it. Yet, he was terrible in the second half, outside of the Kupp TD drive.
4. As unfair as it is, he had two opportunities to win the game for us after the defense blew it. I get that he delivered the go-ahead TD. We should have won on that. But we didn't. He cost us the first opportunity by taking a sack. And he ultimately ended the game by throwing a terrible INT.

Trying to turn this around into an "incredible game" and "his best game of the year" is some serious rationalizing. It was neither. If he had played like he did in the first half throughout, it would have been. But he was streaky. I get that the OL played a big role in that. But Stafford took at least two or three sacks that he arguably shouldn't have. And neither pick was justifiable.

I don't think it's fair to say he was terrible in the second half - our OL getting decimated like that makes it incredibly hard to even evaluate his performance. His second INT was definitely not good though. First one didn't bother me since it was 3rd and 17 - taking a shot with little consequence.

What game was better? Games where he had a clean pocket don't even qualify here. Have to take that into account.

I said years ago that Mahomes performance against the Niners in the Super Bowl was the best of his career. Same exact reason. Niners DL pushed our OL back on almost every play, just like they did the Chiefs in that Super Bowl.

I would definitely rather had the W obviously, but running the Playoff Machine, if we'd have tied, we would have been the 3 seed and hosted Frisco next weekend...so for me, a loss was better than a tie...let Dallas and hopefully Green Bay try their luck....but unfortunately, we all know Frisco only comes to play 2 times a year...

Here’s something “missed”:
3rd and 1 just before the half, up 17-0.

I get that the OL is getting blown up to the point you feel more confident throwing on 3rd and 1, but do you have to tell EVERYBODY? For crying out loud, an empty backfield says to the 9ers DL, “let’s meet at the QB”. By not even putting the idea of running the ball into their heads, that play became so much more easily defended.

Didn’t we have this same discussion years ago when the Rams had a chance to beat the seahawks on the last play using a similar approach—and failed?

Scoring any points (which meant shutting out the 9ers) would have changed the 2nd half strategy. Too many points to make up running every play and shortening the game.

Third and one is the very definition of a play action down! Going empty on that down is probably the stupidest thing that an OC could do.

But it obscures the fact that for 25 minutes we played some of our best football of the season and Stafford was on fire

I'm bummed in the same way as I was after the Packers loss, BUT we know this team is streakier than a truck full of bacon so it didn't come as a huge surprise.

Who knows if we can go on another run, but it is possible and people saying there's no way we can beat anybody other than the Cards are just noise to me.

We *can* beat anybody, including Green Bay, if things slot in place.

Whether we will or not, is another matter.

And finally, fuck the NFL for making this the Monday night game so it kicks off for us in the UK after 1 am.

I got Tuesday off approved today. Had to do some begging to get some cover. The Rams better not fucking let me down now.
