kendrick reminds me of marcus peters. no impulse control. even when he does something well, his over-celebration is often bordering on getting flagged.

I see a 4th weakness - Rozeboom

He is too slow and misses tackles too often for my taste
Yeah, Jones is good. But everyone else that plays the ILB position are JAG's. We could use an upgrade there. Or play more nickel to avoid using them too much.

This

Rozeboom couldn't cover a sloth

And Hoecht trying to cover receivers as an OLB - that's a joke

In fact - I would put in JJ3 in as a Mark Barron type hybrid safety/lb on a lot of plays

Personally, I would not give up on Hoecht just yet. He played with contain much better vs the Niners and can make plays including generating pressure, I could easily see him being a 12+ sack guy if used correctly
What you see the Rams coaching staff sees the same thing-- I think
Hoecht will improve every week.

But he still shouldn't be covering anyone on routes - he is so slow

If you want him rushing the passer on every pass play, then at the minimum drop him back in zone.

Hoecht seems more athletic than your typical 300 pound guy. But not enough to keep up with receivers. At his size he seems more suited to a 4-3 defensive end. His pass rushing skills are probably average. But the one thing he has going is his high motor.

Without fail, our first two draft picks next year need to be OT and EDGE. Van Jefferson has talent but just seems to be a non-aggressive football player. It has a bad look. I like Kendrick. He will improve. Hoecht is a good guy to have on the roster but agree he just doesn’t fit in the D right now.

Here's another weak link, Kyren Williams can't catch the damn ball consistently! Thought he was an ex-wide receiver, or maybe that's WHY he's an ex-WR.

Hoecht did damage last year with his speed to power rush.. I think losing weight to be able to play OLB probably sapped him of that.

Just not working.

Kendrick did just fine last night.

Van Jefferson is fine as a 4th WR in this unit when Kupp comes back.

Right and we have to double dip at both positions. We obviously have zero depth at both positions
Maybe. Young seems to be a keeper and we have no idea about Mathis yet. People seemed to be encouraged by him in the summer.
If Mathis is decent.. you need to add another prime edge.. one guy.
OT? I'm not jumping off a cliff yet with Jackson. I want to see how serious the injury is. Truth is he's been solid in the first three games. The depth is, obviously, awful at LT. Having a guy like Nsheke would've helped, for sure.

one more thing i think we need is either a punter with way better hang time or way faster gunners. come to think of it maybe we need a better s teams coach.

It's not that he can't catch the football, it's that he is trying to make a play before catching the football.

On his drop in the red zone, my wife and I clearly saw him look away from the ball right after it hit his hands.

He needs to slow down and make sure he takes it in before then running with it.

Edge needs to be a proven vet (FA, trade) Young has promise but needs a couple years. We can’t have 2 projects at edge next year.

I saw that too. He should be stranding in front of a jugs machine all week. 2 huge drops the last 2 games. Can’t happen.

Exactly--they have the "put our best 5 on the OL," why not do the same with the rest of our players? (I feel like there's some missing info with JJ3 though--I thought he'd be an obvious starter when we resigned him.)

Hoecht - totally agree... move him back to D-Line... and stop dropping him in cvg!!!!

Jefferson - somewhat agree. We'll see if he can hold on to a pass in the next few games.

Kendricks - I like the kid. Learning from a few mistakes but I'd keep him in there for a few more games at least. Would like to see more Tomlinson at some point.
