He was always better in zone and can tackle - I'd ask him about playing safety, then let Burgess/Long fight for the nickle
I’ve never seen a DB so dam good as Sherman if I am being honest. His instincts, positioning, baiting they are all off the charts. He’s one of the smartest DB’s and is a relentless film watcher. I read once he has a photographic memory and once memorized his 18 character wifi random password.

I think his mental side makes him a dominant safety even if he has lost a half step.

Yea. I agree...spent so many years hating him but dude went to Stanford and you can tell when he speaks

My feeling was it could help to replace JJ’s veteran leadership. It is good to have that in the backfield, especially with young players. I’m not convinced Fuller is going to be as good on the mental side as JJ was, since it’s only Fuller’s second year

He doesn't even sniff the campus at Stanford if he wasn't a football player. Agree to disagree on his communication skills.

I think the issue is our safety room already has some unknown to it with some young options they invested in (Rapp being a round 2 pick for example). So investing more in it seems unlikely barring them not being happy with one or more of them.

But I do think you're right in projecting him to safety. Sherm has great ball skills when defending an area which is what he's done during his career in cover 3. There's room to think he is one of those corners who would translate well to the middle with his ball skills. If the Rams were to do that I'd be good with it. :cheers2:

Well none of us really know him but I've always suspected he was a lot smarter dude than he let on. There are some guys where you know they got through college because of ball but I don't think Sherm's one of those guys.

I dislike him of course just from years of where he's played and his mouth. But since Peterson came out and slammed him he's been smart enough to shut the fuck up if nothing else.

And that is a welcome change! Also, for what it is worth, I completely agree with Peterson's assessment.

Yeah I think his intelligence is overstated. Or maybe it’s just his emotional intelligence. The guy seems smart but not anything to make a deal about.
