Been kicking this one around quite a bit and I think the first important thing to realize is that this isn't really a must-win game. It's must-win for the top seed, yes. But this is the type of team that could go on the road in the playoffs and win it all. So I'm not putting this one up there in my mind as "the game" that will decide everything. It's the biggest game thus far, no doubt. I'm gonna be pissed if we lose, so not rationalizing here, just keeping it real.

Last one we benefitted from turnovers, which may not be there tomorrow night. So I think right off that top rope we need a better night by the offense generally speaking, as well as better play across the board because Seattle's gonna be rocking and those boys know they can play with the Rams now. The game is definitely going to have an "NFC Championship Game" feel.

Line play, as it always seems to in the biggest games, will determine this one. Rams are playing great on both lines right now. Seattle is not quite as strong in that regard, but defensively their secondary is better and not as dependent on the rush as ours is. And overall they have a disciplined and elite defense that has given up 17.3 ppg this year so it's gonna be tough sledding for our offense. Opposing QBs have been held to an average of 77.1 in passer rating. MacDonald is known for his ability to streamline and teach reads and he's got that group playing extremely disciplined on the back end.

Losing Adams was a huge hit. Trips to the redzone may not be all that common in this game. Which means when we get down there we need to finish those drives and that's where we feel his loss. MacDonald will take Puka away in the redzone. So who's gonna step up.

Also and this won't be popular but Darnold is still playing quite well at QB for those fuckers. He's been tough to bring down, and if I had to guess what one of their biggest keys in their gameplan is offensively I'd say it's taking the ground yards the moment he sees them. So rush discipline is going to be extremely important. Which, btw, the Rams have been improving a lot in that regard.

This is an exciting matchup across the board. I'm not sure we're gonna win it. Think it's about a coin flip in fact as the environment is going to elevate a team that is close to our boys in quality. So hopefully this is a game where the Rams are prepared to get it done since they already learned a hard lesson for the second time in Philly. They should be ready to get this done. Fingers crossed.

This. I watched the Colts' game highlights and Darnold was extremely slippery. Frustrating.

Right? Bryce Young had two good throws against New Orleans with a poor game plan from their coaches. Seems that many of these teams have planned their superbowl against us.

Could not disagree more on that comment.

Myers 57-yard-FG earlier in that game would have been good from 65 yards.

Over the last two seasons, Myers is 18-of-24 on FGAs from 50-yards-plus and has connected from 59 and 57.

Hardly a Hail Mary; and if your prayers are being answered at a 75% clip, please say a prayer for me.
It's all good man. Just a couple comments, and then I will move on.
Same here. What I was commenting on was the comment above. But it is what it is. It's all good. Let's beat Seattle and if they need to try a 65 yarder at the end, have at it. I feel confident we win anyway.

I'm thinking 13 Personnel and those running it are better at it now and that Kyren/Corum will have better lanes through which to run the ball than the last time. Puka will probably the WR in 13 and is like a TE himself.
Stafford proved in the Philly Divisional round game that he will throw the ball in the snow and so I don't see him not doing play action passes in the rain.
Defense-wise, I hope they bring a 6th man blitzing Darnold occasionally. Do it especially early so it moves him off his spot and disrupts any developing rhythm. Darnold unconsciously wants to give up the ball on the ground or in the air, so lets help him with that.

@PARAM and @Allen2McVay Can we be done with this now?

Weather wise, the way it looks right now is rain won’t be much of an issue. But wind definitely will be - especially wind gusts

Fully agree on the offensive end. I still think we can run and win in 13 personnel against them as we have improved at it. Our TEs missed a lot of blocks in that game. And also Puka fumbled, which is very rare.

On defense, they should keep it the same as last time. The Rams invited Seattle to run by primarily playing dime and nickel. That limits their explosive passing plays, which is what they need when their offense is thriving. As of week 11 when we played them, they ranked in the bottom 10 in rushing EPA per attempt against dime and nickel.

Darnold has been more tentative since that week 11 game, so this time instead of 4 picks, he'll revert to holding the ball and being sacked like last year. Or the OC tries to have him play a more traditional west coast offense, play action, short passing game meaning he will have to be patient all game. That goes against his nature.

The thing about this game, it should not have matter as much as it does. That missed extra point in the Niners first game, not to mention the blocked kick against the Eagles, Karty cost us 2 wins and we should be talking about when we are going to rest Stafford as a one loss team. Thats how good we really are.
McVay's game plan will be very interesting. I did not like what I seen from their defense, they can play.
If we can really get the run game going I like our chances. Rob did not look so good that game and at this point, RT has been upgraded.

The Rams won some close / toss-up games too. It has not been one-sided.
