I got the feeling from Fish's presser - y'know, the one where he apparently told everyone to go freak themselves - that Mannion will start getting some practice reps and I wouldn't be shocked to see him play if Keenum doesn't show anything.
I sure would however like to see Mannion take some meaningful snaps.
Exactly, I'd been hoping to see him 2 games ago....I'd have really liked to have watched how these 7 games changed him....

Hell, I'd ask him....

What could it hurt? We can't score now! Playing Mannion might just be the start to the answer. After all it's clear that this offense sure isn't.
Of course you could argue that it's a waste of Mannion's time to learn an offense that's already dead and waiting for a proper burial.
This really made me laugh....

unless you have the assets on the field that are needed to develop a QB like a solid O-line, good WRs/RBs and a competent OC it can often be counterproductive and sometimes fatal to their development
Alan clearly expressing my feelings about the development and psyche of a young QB.
See Jim Everett....etc etc etc

The only problem I see is that if the only way you can have him in without getting him killed behind an O-line that really can't protect a QB is to severely limit the playbook, you are not getting him positive reps and in the mean time probably getting him whacked out there way too much. He is not a mobile QB. We know that. We have a VERY porous O-line. We know that. The idea that you are not going to get him shell shocked out there and that any reps are good reps is highly suspect.... dare I say inaccurate. That would be like saying all those hits Bulger took didn't affect him. Or that all the hits Warner took didn't affect him while he was a Ram.

I would like to see him get reps but only if they have a good plan to keep him from getting slaughtered back there. Otherwise it is best to go with the more mobile QB in Keenum. Foles needs to just sit.

It took Warner and Bulger years to get beat to hell...not 5 games.

Plus, the OL just might look better if they have a QB capable of getting the ball out on time which will help Gurley by forcing defenses to defend the pass. And WRs/TEs by actually having a QB that can put the ball on them.

If Mannion is the guy he should be able to handle it.

Are the Rams making the playoffs? No. So start Mannion and Marquez while you're at it.

I guess it is possible if the team is really desperate but I don't see anyone worth a 1st and 2nd in this draft. There are still too many wholes to fill. Give me a legit stud WR or MLB

I would say DE too but I like Longacre and Westbrooks. Sims and Hayes are getting older but still look like good players.

Drafting a stud WR when you lack a QB is like buying rims for a car you don't have. ;)
But we have the shiny new accord ready to roll, come o man give me something on the WR front. Someone in the 6'2" 210 range that fights for the ball and can have some YAC

The Cardinals D is beat up and their pass rush is struggling. This is the perfect time to start Mannion. He gets to start at home too.

I'll stay on the fence on this one.

I bought CDs before I had a CD player. I actually did. It gave me more than one CD to play once I decided on which player to go with. Y'know, since we're walking down metaphor lane. :D

Ha. A friend of mine years ago bought Corvette rims as motivation to get him to save for a Corvette.
And he ended up getting one a year later.

(insert your response about waiting a year to get a QB)

That's weird. You could just get them all at once.

I like what Longacre has shown. Westbrooks can move around which is nice. I would like to see Hayes come back with Longacre as the 3rd and 4th DEs next year.

At first I thought that starting Mannion "to see what he is" was just a knee jerk fan thing.

Everyone loves the backup. I know better than the dumbass coach.

Foles just ain't getting his shit together.
Keemun is concussed as of today.

Play his ass. Mannion, that is.

If Mannion starts, we are essentially pushing him into a slaughter house. He ain't ready, I hear he hasn't taking a rep with anyone besides the scout team... I mean it's week 13 and for a guy that has never gotten a meaningful rep besides about 14 weeks ago can't help us now. Get him some reps in the next few weeks and let him play in the 4th if the game is out of hand, either way. Get him prepped for 16!

Mannion just got 7 live reps on the field. And looked better than Foles.

I agree. Get him reps in the next few weeks...on the field. Where they count.

Lions did it with Megatron.
Bengals with Green
Broncos with Thomas
Bills with Watkins
Houston with Hopkins.

It happens all the time. You don't pass up a stud WR to reach for a QB.

You're acting like those were good decisions. It only worked for the Bengals because they drafted Dalton in Round 2. The Lions went 0-16 with Calvin. The Broncos lucked into Peyton Manning after going 4-12 and 8-8 in DeMaryius's first two years. The Bills are starting Tyrod Taylor.(and did well finding him) Houston is starting Brian Hoyer.

I think this is strong evidence why it's a bad idea. Not to mention that there is no Megatron, A.J. Green, or Sammy Watkins in this class.

So yea, I'd rather not draft a WR and be stuck starting a journeyman like Hoyer, hoping I luck into a future HOFer in FA, or hoping I finish worst in the NFL so I can draft a QB like Stafford.

So if we draft a WR...who is our Dalton? And what WR are we drafting? Treadwell?

I will certainly pass up a stud WR to "reach" for a QB that I think is a franchise QB. You have FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR better odds of finding a quality WR in the 2nd or 3rd round than you do a quality starting QB.

You're right. Quality like Quick, Bailey, Givens? Fisher has no clue how to draft a WR. What makes you think he can do it outside of the first? And you act as if the Bangles knew Dalton was going to be there and was going to turn out like he did.

Do you think this draft has a franchise QB? I surely dont. If they do, do you think he falls to us? Probably not.

If Fisher has no clue how to draft a WR then we'd be making an especially bad decision trusting him to use a first round pick on one. And I don't even care to debate what will happen if Fisher is here. Because I will not accept Fisher staying after this catastrophe.

As for the Bengals, if they had drafted Green and not gotten Dalton, they would have had a rough year. Then again, drafting Green would have been the right choice either ways because Locker, Gabbert, and Ponder were bad prospects.(and I'm not using hindsight on that)

Do you think this draft has a franchise QB? I surely dont. If they do, do you think he falls to us? Probably not.

Yes. I think this draft has at least two...possibly as many as four. But you probably define franchise QB differently.
