I think we'll see him even next pre-season game

I agree, ... how hard can it be to run a couple post patterns to take some pressure off of a stacked box ? I don't expect him to have the entire playbook memorized for Oakland, but surely a few plays which are fairly standard at his WR position to help loosen up the defense seems reasonable. He and Goff need all the work they can get together at this time, doubtful the first team offense plays more than a fraction of the first quarter anyway. jmo.

Yep. With nothing on the line it would be easy to have a "Sammy Series" of a couple scripted plays ready to go to get him some playing time with the starters.

Well, I heard either Snead or McVay say (probably Snead) that the first team will play the first quarter, and a few plays into the second quarter this week...

All the more reason to see Sammy get a few snaps ...

I wonder if they will wait a few weeks into the season before he plays full time...

I imagine that give him an abbreviated route tree and expand it each week.
Wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't out there for a couple series against Oakland. Its not like he hadn't been playing football (like some DT who's currently not playing)

Thought I read somewhere that Watkins wouldn't play until preseason game #3

Could be wrong ( just don't tell my wife)

Bradford got traded to the Vikings a week before the season and was good to go by week 2. Watkins is a pro. I don't see any reason he won't be fully ready to go playbook wise by week one. Chemistry with teammates may be a different story.

This won't be an issue I don't believe. Watkins was highly praised for his chemistry in the Bills locker room.
I mean on field chemistry with the QB. QBs want routes ran a certain way. Getting the timing perfect with Goff may take time, but I still think he should be 100% fine in that regard week one. That's unless he is Brian Quick stupid and can't learn the playbook which I don't believe is the case at all.

I was really impressed how well spoken he was in the booth. This guy is smart and he will pick this up quickly. I think he starts pre-3 and pulls one in for a TD.

His college coach called him a very humble superstar.

Woods should probably be able to help him with the learning, and whoever ever else helped Woods with the learning. Sammy said he picks things up quickly.

I know we can't wait, but he'll be playing when it counts..
