Here we go again with Russell Wilson…

For the bulk of last year’s offseason, the internet was flooded with rumors of a Wilson trade. And while the QB didn’t ever come out and ask to be traded, his agent did provide the Seahawks with a handful of teams the superstar quarterback would be interested in playing for.

Despite all that, Russell Wilson returned to Seattle prior to the start of last season, saying and doing all the right things. But now, we’re back to square one.

After the Seahawks failed to make the postseason, Wilson is reportedly weighing what his options would be on the trade market.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport went on “The Pat McAfee Show” to speak on the current mindset of Russell Wilson.

“Russ wants to know his options. I’m not saying he’s definitely going to go, but he wants to look around and see,” Rapoport said. “If you’re Seattle, it’s the same problem they’ve had the last few years. Even if they get a great offer, who is actually going to be their quarterback and how quickly can they rebuild? Because Pete Carroll is going to be 71, and he doesn’t want it to be a full-year rebuild. I wouldn’t rule out a trade, but it has to be a no-brainer and they have to know the answer to the next question as well.”

After the season concluded, Russell Wilson maintained that he wants to be in Seattle until he retires, but also acknowledged that it isn’t entirely up to him whether or not that happens.

But there has to be something to all these rumors that he’s looking around. And it isn’t like it’s anything new. When we did this whole song and dance lat year, it was reported that Russ was getting a little fed up with how Pete Carroll and the Seahawks’ brass don’t ask his input on the roster, and I’d expect those feelings are probably still there.

It’ll still take a massive haul for any team to land Russell Wilson in a trade. But buckle up, we’re going to have another offseason with these rumors swirling around.

Wilson would be a problem on many teams in our conference. He's just not much of a threat on the Hags because McVay runs circles around Pete as coach. If he went somewhere like Pittsburgh or the Aints they would be trouble.

Despite the fact that he plays for Seattle, I've always liked and respected Wilson. He's a tough dude who hasn't had a decent offensive line in awhile. He's carried that team on his back the last few years. Without him, they're rebuilding. The NFC is going to be interesting next year. With Brady gone and Rodgers possibly headed to Denver or Tennessee, Stafford, Dak, and Wilson are the premiere QBs left in the conference. The toughness and savvy that Stafford has shown this year is really something. To think it's his first year here with the Rams. Let's hope we can keep the core of this group together for the next 4-5 years.

Russ is a mega star in Seattle, the community would implode if the hags trade him and if they don’t become instant contenders all those bandwagon 12s will stop showing up.

I don’t think he is in Stafford’s league right now and can’t see anyone trading that kind of capitol for him.

I really expected them to move on from Pete this offseason. Surprised that didn't happen. They should have because Pete just doesn't seem capable of competing with McVay and Shanny.

Moving Russell is something you would do along with the change at HC. So them keeping Carroll around it makes sense to give him that shot with the QB he brought in. But once again I am not a fan of moving a QB so he can make you look like an asshole by succeeding elsewhere. Not when it's a guy who has shown he can play at the highest level which Wilson certainly has.

And they might can the GM too if/when they finally tire of Petey.

If I'm the GM right now I'm looking at $50M cap space and the draft and preparing to invest in the OL and defense. Their ignoring of the OL is half their problem. And the rest of the picks I'd go heavy defense. They have brought in offensive weapons of late but IMO getting back to who they are behind a great defense should be the direction they're looking. At least for now, up until that point they hire a new HC and admit to themselves it's a rebuild.

#1). Seek to go to a team that does not play DT Aaron Donald twice a year.

#2.) {Even Better} Seek to go the AFC South Division (Tenn/ Jax/ Houston & Indy) teams Rams just played in 2021 thus he will not see Aaron Donald staring at him in a Regular season gm for the rest of his playing career.

Seattle is in an odd spot.

They could move Wilson and Metcalf, replace Pete… get a rebuild started.

Instead, they are going to try to rollout the same Pete/Russ combo for another run at it… with only a 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th pick to change things from the draft.

They DO have some cap space to work with. This article calculates $25M, and they need to deal with extending or dealing Metcalf. Wilson hits the cap at $37M this year. Ouch.

Agree with most of the post, and the general thought about Seattle's direction.

However, I think Pete Carroll's Seahawks have an 8-2 record against Kyle Shanahan's 49ers.

Rams and 9ers have repped 3 of the last 4 SBs while Seattle had nothing. Those two losses probably came during SF's season they made a run.

Just feels like Pete is a non-threat to make a real run.

I actually think Houston has the most to offer in trade.
