Not a runner. Too lazy.
Just wanna brag about my 83 yr old Pop. He took up running when he was around 62 to help blow off steam and stay in shape to take care of my mom who had MS.
Since then, he's run marathons in all 50 states and 3 continents (North America, South America, and Europe).
Since my mom died last year, his energy and drive plummeted. He tried to run Tokyo and Cape Town, but couldn't finish either. He just lost the will.
He's since developed some equilibrium issues. But what I'm most proud of is his ability to call it quits. He was a Green Beret (10th SF), ran all these marathons and all. But when he realized it wasn't worth it anymore, he just said no more. He's done what he's done and no one can take it away from him. Nothing to prove.
He still runs. Did 8 miles last Saturday, but no more marathons. Hell probably quit soon altogether, but whenever he decides I'll always be so proud of my dad.
And he's a Rams fan too.
