Ran my 2nd 13.1 today and set a new PR of 2:12 in a steady 25 MPH wind with gusts up to 40 in our faces the last 5 or so miles

I'm gonna have to try doing this. Weightlifting isn't doing anything for my heart, and i can't stand treadmills or stationary bikes. So boring. The problem is, my job keeps me in the car for 1/3 of the day, and the rest of the time I'm standing around watching people work (inspector). Gotta get my ass in gear.

Then swim or walk as fast as you can, as long as you can......45 minutes to an hour each time, 3 or more times a week. (I'm surprised weightlifting isn't working for your heart.) Best of luck.

Still have my 2 hr 13.1 goal.....getting closer lol

How bout you?
That's terrific man!
Looks like you are right on track!
Here's a race predictor that's pretty accurate:

My running has been pretty awful the last year and a half. Battling injuries. Getting old sucks....

I've gotten more joy out of watching my nephew. He's a high school sophomore that is killing it in x country and runs the mile in winter/spring track

Fantastic brother!! That’s awesome
So........

What’s next?

I really dont know... I really dont have the time to train for a full unless I start getting up at 4 a.m. Have a friend who want to do a Tri, but not my thing.

Probably just keep plugging along and doing my thing..maybe try for some age group medals..going in to my final year of the 50-54 groups

Not a runner. Too lazy.

Just wanna brag about my 83 yr old Pop. He took up running when he was around 62 to help blow off steam and stay in shape to take care of my mom who had MS.

Since then, he's run marathons in all 50 states and 3 continents (North America, South America, and Europe).

Since my mom died last year, his energy and drive plummeted. He tried to run Tokyo and Cape Town, but couldn't finish either. He just lost the will.

He's since developed some equilibrium issues. But what I'm most proud of is his ability to call it quits. He was a Green Beret (10th SF), ran all these marathons and all. But when he realized it wasn't worth it anymore, he just said no more. He's done what he's done and no one can take it away from him. Nothing to prove.

He still runs. Did 8 miles last Saturday, but no more marathons. Hell probably quit soon altogether, but whenever he decides I'll always be so proud of my dad.

And he's a Rams fan too.
