Signed up for a 10k Thanksgiving Day...looking into the Newport RI marathon for next year
That's awesome man. Keep it up!Signed up for a 10k Thanksgiving Day...looking into the Newport RI marathon for next year
so signed up last minute for a 6.9k run for to benefit Easter Seals today. Was about 43* and steady rain all day
first 2 miles were all up hill..flattened out for another mile or so and the last mile roughly was all downhill...did that last mile in under 6 minutes (5:52) and finished with a time of 37:48 ( 8:48 pace)
super happy with that
and before you ask, the reason the race is 6.9k is because the bar sponsoring it has 69 beers on tap !!!!

As a life long runner, there are not many things I enjoy as much as watching somebody have the light bulb go on, and find the love for the run. Its been a great ride following you man.so signed up last minute for a 6.9k run for to benefit Easter Seals today. Was about 43* and steady rain all day

I'm gonna have to try doing this. Weightlifting isn't doing anything for my heart, and i can't stand treadmills or stationary bikes. So boring. The problem is, my job keeps me in the car for 1/3 of the day, and the rest of the time I'm standing around watching people work (inspector). Gotta get my ass in gear.well finally got off my ass and went for my first outdoor run of the year. Just did around 3 miles, no running app or anything, just some music in my ear and went around the bike track at the park 4 times which is about .8 miles
did some core training over the winter and some treadmill running over the last month or so to get ready for this years running season
Man, my running mojo has been way off this year.well finally got off my ass and went for my first outdoor run of the year. Just did around 3 miles, no running app or anything, just some music in my ear and went around the bike track at the park 4 times which is about .8 miles

Wow to be that age again. So many things we'd all do different. The main one for me would be to get into shape like your nephew then. 18 minute 5k is awesome. I'm in pretty good shape but can only do a 25 minute 5k. That took me 5 months to get that quick as well (from ten years of doing no exercise at all).My running focus has been centered around my nephew who is a freshman in HS. The kid is a beast and he just loves it. He ran cross country at our middle school where there wasn't much coaching, and since he joined the HS X team he has really blossomed. He ended his cross country season with a 18 minute 5k and then proceeded to run winter track.
In the mile he ran his fastest time at 4:52 and placed T4th in the County for frosh.
Really looking forward to seeing him compete this summer in the NJ shore 5k series
As for me, I just keep plodding along and am starting to train for a fall marathon
That's great man, good for you!!records are falling........
so far this year I have set 2 PR in 5k races
So I ran my first half marathon on Sunday, the Great North Run(apparently the largest half marathon in the world with 57,000 runners!), and finished with a time of 1 hour 51 minutes. Reasonably happy with the time, I had been aiming for 1:45 but I've been struggling with a groin injury for the last few weeks so had adjusted my target to 2 hours. With that in mind I was glad to more or less split the difference and I can't wait to get back in training for my next one!
Thanks man!well done !!!
I turned my ankle on a trail run and a few months ago and have been slow getting back. It suck because I had made some great strides ( pun intended) in my speed runs. Now if I try to push it too far my ankle lets me know.
Have a 10k coming up Oct 2 and a 13.1 end of Oct
