The only way they start MO is at SS and TJ as Free or Deep safety which is not ideal for TJ.

I think we could make a run at Weddle now. Maybe Mo is developing enough to start but I can't help feeling our defense is weakened...

I don't agree Orchid. People were panicked over McLeod starting, many felt the UDFA safety was not good enough. We have a great coaching staff on defense and talented guys. We will be fine at safety.

Fuck... I loved McLeod! This is shitty... Dude used to bring the hammer and could cover and got steadily better as the years went by.... I'm thinking we'll look back at letting him leave like a London Fletcher type of thing :/

For coming in as a UDFA I congrat him for getting this contract. Good for him.
Anyway you look at it it's one more hole to fill. A resource has t be extended to just maintain the play level and not to improve another position.

I blame Snead for this..McCloud and mayb Jenkins should have been locked up a year ago...this effing sucks/
 
This one hurts more than JJ. But still, I have a lot of confidence in our defensive staff and the FO's ability to recognize defensive talent. After all, the reason McLeod is getting his big payday is because they did a great job developing him. And to be fair, we already have some potential replacements on the roster.

Seriously? You blame Snead for not putting us in a hole for JJ?
If anything McLeod hurts us more than JJ but you can't blame him for not hurting our future for making stupid contracts especially in JJ's case where he was only about the $ anyways.

We seriously need to sign Barron now and I think he knows his biggest value is with us anyways so we should get this done ASAP I'm thinking.

You act as though we are talking the same money a year ago? Besides, read my post again before going nuclear..I said MAYBE Jenkins. I have no doubt that both men could have been had for less a year ago, than what they just got from teams willing to overpay now.
 
McCloud became an above-average free safety. He's certainly replaceable. There just isn't a good candidate to do it. ;)
