Not a big fan of this trade. IMO, giving up a high 2nd rounder and a promising young O-lineman for something you already have on your roster is not a big gain for me. If this trade were made, you're basically admitting failure on 3rd Rd pick Sean Mannion after one season, and all indications are the the Rams are happy with Mannion's progress. I'd keep the pick and fill other more pressing needs.

Thank you for those kind words woof. This will be my swan song here at the ROD and this is a great way to go out IMO. So many outstanding posters here and I'll miss all of them. Even those that I don't often agree with.

I couldn't agree with you more about how interesting the comments are. So much more insightful than the talking heads commenting about the picks on TV. Not a lot of insightful commentary by almost all of them.

I can understand not liking the trade. I disagree that we have someone like this already. Garoppolo IMO is much better than anything we have on our roster. As for Mannion I don't really know what the Rams think of him. Fact is he hasn't even beaten out Keenum yet, so how good can they think he is? I was never a big fan of Mannion in college so that is all I can really evaluate him on. To me he is a strong arm kid who takes too long to get rid of the ball and I don't have the greatest of confidence this staff can coach that up. Garoppolo has one of the quickest releases I have seen in the last few drafts.

I agree in keeping picks to address pressing areas but to me QB is the biggest need and I feel like we upgraded here. There also were not a ton of options and was not trading the far for one of the QBs in this draft. I'm not a big fan of any of the QBs this year. Goff was my fave and there was no chance for him as you can see. I don't like Lynch and would not of taken him at 15 so although you may not like the trade I hope it helps you understand why I did what I did.

It's not easy being the GM of the home team lol, but I did what I what I thought was best for the organization lol.

I think the Rams have been a pretty stark example of how important the QB is - and even if Mannion is ultimately the guy, having a solid backup and even a decent 3rd is very much worthwhile.

I think it would cost more than this to get him from the Pats, btw.

I don't think it was a bad move at all @Boston Ram . Not if you think Mannion isn't the answer. It's pretty hard to think that he (Mannion) is the answer when you think about what the Rams have done with him so far. I agree with your comment about him not being able to beat out Keenum. Keenum isn't anything close to a QB I'd want. It all comes down to whether your assessment of Garoppolo's potential is right. I don't see this happening in real life though.

With the top 2 QB's gone it's a tough call. Wait for Lynch, roll the dice in the 2nd or later rounds. Or trade for a veteran. Don't blame you for going this route with the top 2 picks going the way they did.
