KC recap to this point (needs CB, WR, OL) six picks-no 2:
#23. CB Verrett, TCU. Chiefs secondary was stout the first half of the season but injuries to pass rushers lengthened their cover times and big plays against them became the norm down the stretch. Verrett will strengthen and add competition to a fairly solid secondary unit.
#87. OT Mewhort, OSU. Chiefs lost three part time starters. As a minimum, Mewhort will be the swing tackle, could start at RG or RT. Lucky to get him in the 3rd.
Bengals recap to this point (DE, WR, OL) nine picks:
#24. WR M Lee, USC. AJ Green and M Jones are very good but need some help. TEs can be very good also. Explosive Lee will make this a formidable group early.
#55. OT Tiny Richardson, Tenn. 88. As a minimum, Tiny will be swing tackle and essentially replace the loss of LT Collins. LT Whitworth and RT A Smith are fixtures. Look for FA G/T Newhouse (formerly GB starting RT) to start at RG. Tiny has all the tools, has a huge upside, came out early and somewhat raw.
#88. DE Jeffcoat, Texas. Put up big #s in college throughout his career (86 tackles, 22TFL, 13.5 sacks in 2013). Light in the pants, a bit stiff. W Gilberry (7 sacks) and M Hunt will compete for the vacated DE Michael Johnson's spot. Jeffcoat can pin his ears back and provide immediate pass rush help in the rotation. The trick will be putting weight, strength and acumen on his athletic, 250 lb frame while keeping his 4.63 speed.
