Assuming they are paying the 3.5 roster bonus, which is why 6th round is about right unfortunately
I imagine if the Rams had taken the 3.5 hit, he'd probably had garnered a higher pick, maybe even a 4th

I hate this because I think the world of Woods, but even he stayed in horns for '22, he was gonna be released after that because the contract just blows up

Awful trade in isolation. Let alone what it does to the locker room. But I will give the Rams the benefit of the doubt that they have plans for the cap space, such that viewing the trade in isolation would be a mistake. Perhaps they just needed the money off the books fast to make way for other moves.

Yes good call but the compensation sucks ass
I guess it depends on how you look at the Robinson signing.
I see Robinson as a clear upgrade and a WR who opens the offense up on a different level. You put him and Kupp on opposite sides and you wreak havoc on defenses, imo.
So.. If it was simply a matter of Robinson or Woods.. and the Rams got back a 6th and opened up cap space this season, I'm more than fine with that thought process.

For a 6th???
A 6th???????

Woods for a Skowronek? Or less most likely? Ugh. Not a fan.

I understood that the time has to come.... but shiiiit.
It's all about the 7 mil benjamins. Ho-hum, Rams will draft another WR now.

It looks like Robinson was an upgrade to Woods, 10 mil more cap available and a 6th round next year.

No reason to stop trusting McSnead at this point. It ain't over yet.

We all really liked Woods but will soon be forgotten I believe.

But then again, I still miss John Hadl and Harold Jackson.

It sucks we couldn’t get more but it makes sense. They cleared up some cap for other needs. They had too much resources invested in WRs. You have to think Van Jefferson keeps improving and they will try to get Tutu involved. Kupp and Robinson is the new 1a 1b. OBJ is the wild card potential boom.

Have to agree, with all the WR depth on the Rams, Woods as WR3 wasn't going to get the snaps he wants, now his opportunities will grow in Tennessee. Once we ink OBj and watch the continued development of Jefferson, Harris, Skow, Atwell & Powell, plus have a better understanding for how his CAP savings is spent, we'll see just how deep this team can be.

We had enough savings to get an edge and maybe a CB without dumping Woods like garbage.
I was upset last offseason that they didn't open up 5-10 mil for Melvin Ingram and a vet ILB.

I was wrong to be upset, it turns out.

Lotta emotions on this trade. I get it. I was totally there last year when they traded away Goff. Thankfully, it worked out even to the really high standards some set for judging the trade (Super Bowl or bust).

But yeah, I totally get the emotional reactions to this trade, even if it makes sense from a football standpoint. Losing good guys hurts.

I'm very sad that they only a sixth for Bobby. I think he's worth more than that. End of era. Hat's off to him. Hell of a player. Will miss him.

Depending on what they do, that could help ease the blow, but we definitely could have gotten the Titans to give us a better pick. Guess that bonus expedited the move. Makes me wonder if Donald about to break the shit outta the bank or if we made this trade earlier if we could have kept Von and gone after Robinson anyways.

1.. A 6th in 2023 equals 7th in 2022. We gave Woods away.
2. We spent about a third on Boom and Allen, compared to what Big Whit would have cost.
3. We spent significantly less in gtd money for Robinson, vs getting Miller back.
4. We saved a ton on a new deal with Stafford.
The Rams did not NEED to dump Woods like this. No wee get to depend on Jefferson to not suck when it counts.
This is where I am at. I can see wanting to move Woods and thinking too much cap space is at WR. But the Rams certainly did not need to give him away. Our finances were fine to carry his contract and bonus. For a team looking to run it back, this sort of value makes no sense to me, unless the Rams have more moves planned, and needed the space. I choose to believe that is the case.

As for what we got in return for Woods.........

None of us know how he is doing with his recovery and asking to take a 15 mil hit this year after an injury year may have been a big ask to begin with.

He ain't a yout either.

All speculation.. but the roster they ended last season with was a hell of a roster.. so, I'm not going to stress too much or second-guess them that they could've gotten more.
If they took less to send him to a team where he fit and had a chance to be in the playoff picture, I'm fine with that too.

He should have finished his career as a Ram, this is terrible news. I’d have kept him over OBJ as well (that’s not taking into account any finances though).
Love Woods, he brought high skills, effort, and total professionalism to the Rams when they needed it. Glad he is going to a contender.

But sorry I'm with McVay and Snead and taking Kupp, Robinson and OBJ. What a receiving corps that's going to be!!! And wait til they run four wide sets with Jefferson or even Harris or Atwell to go deep.

Depends what they do with the cap savings and it shows they don't want to get into a position down the road where they have to dump a bunch of big contracts.

So they are being disciplined and yet spreading their resources throughout the roster efficiently.

If they now use his cap room on a quality veteran CB, then it makes a ton of sense.

They were "fielding offers from teams"? For a 6th?

Yeah, right. More like they were shopping Woods to teams. I hate this. Woods brings a hell of a lot more to this team than just his play on the field. It's understandable that they have the cap to deal with, but losing leaders like Von, Woods and, of course, Whit, is going to hurt this team.

I'm still pissed at Chuck Knox for trading away Henry Ellard, who had three 1000 yard seasons left in him in his post-Rams days. Although, proving that a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut, he did draft Isaac Bruce the same year he traded away Henry.
