I can't see McVay putting Stafford at risk next week despite what he said back in 2017. If he sits, then I think the rest of the dominoes fall.

Chicago will play at GB at 1 next week. We will play at 4:25. So we will know where things stand before we kickoff.

Im leaning towards letting everyone rest. Im prob in the minority but I’d rather play Dallas than Detroit. We’ve already seen Dallas once and I think that gives McVay the advantage. I also think Dallas has a buttload of bad karma headed their way for the officiating BS last night. And I’m taking McVay over McCarthey in a playoff game 100 times out of 100.

I hear you but I think Campbell is by far the worst HC in the playoffs by far.

I say rest but that would just be me, I'd hate to see someone get stupidly hurt by bad luck or dirty play

It was 2017 season (actually six years ago today), and yep he said he would never do it again. Shanahan seemed to indicate that they will rest some guys though so we'll see.
Damn i got confused and that messes up my pep speech too.

Yall get the gist, fuck the Niners

McVay rested most starters in the final week of 2017, and regretted it. Niners starters steamrolled us. And then the Rams came out noticeably flat in the first half in the playoff game against Atlanta.

McVay talked with Belichick a lot that off-season, and I remember Belichick told McVay that "momentum heading into the playoffs" was a valuable thing.

After that Atlanta playoff game, I doubted that McVay would ever again rest his starters before the playoffs.

However...

With Ratboy acknowledging that he is gonna rest many starters, this next game is gonna have a "preseason feel" already.

I really don't know what McVay will do. Common sense would imply resting starters. But I know McVay really regretted resting starters before the playoffs in 2017.

I’d stay play the starters and if the flow of the game is getting out of hand, rest the starters. I think it’s important that the team gets familiar with SF before we potentially play them again.

I'd play the starters for one quarter or a half. Live reps are always better than practice imo. I'd sit Kupp though. It would be good to get our backup QB some reps, but I would rather Stafford gets Like his yards instead of trusting Went to do it.

I don't think I'd let Williams play at all. Stafford for maybe a half....if that. Puka until he gets the record. Sit Kupp. Sit Donald. Sit most o line starters at halftime.

If we sit and fall to the seventh seed we would likely face a second seed that won't sit players in wk 18. Dallas (and philly) will play their starters to win next week to avoid going on the road.

Maybe our best play is to sit everyone after the first quarter.

There should be no letdown next week. You play your starters and gameplan to win accordingly, This team still has execution issues and they need to be cleaned up next week. Also, people forget we could end up in the 7th seed spot. That means we face the #2 team which is Dallas as opposed to the #6 seed playing against the Lions.

The defense needs all the experience it can get. They still are making too many mistakes. STs is a joke and they need to be leaned on hard to get it right. Poor tackling is a reflection of poor technique and effort both of which is a direct result of poor coaching. McVay needs to lean on Blackburn to get him to get his shit together.

Evans needs to understand that getting 10 yards less distance but forcing a fair catch is better than out-kicking the coverage with poor hangtime for the distance. Again that is a reflection of poor coaching.

McVay has every reason not to take his foot off the gas. The Rams want to make a statement next week.

Wanna guess which NFC team the Ravens don't want to face in the SB? The Rams have been one of the few teams that went toe to toe, eyeball to eyeball with them.

I show the Chicago GB game as a late game just as ours. I think they might have changed the schedule.

So, we will not know anything.

I really do expect Shanny to rest key starters.

So, the longer I think about this and see how things unfold, I am now considering playing key starters and trying to get the win.

We most likely play Detroit if we beat S.F. Playoff matchups are HUGE.

I think Dallas could blow us out in Dallas but we can handle Detroit.

Will be interesting to hear what Mcvay plans to do.

Yep I think there is a VERY real difference between the 6 and 7 seed.

Plus I don't want to rest against the Niners.

Finally.....this team needs game experience, and resting Kupp/Stafford/AD will get us killed even if it is against backups. Need to play everyone IMO.

Everyone should play. This team isn't veteran enough to just switch it back on after taking a week off.

Rest

Cooper Kupp, Puka, Kyren, Stafford, Donald, anyone who has any kind of an injury at all should sit this one out.

I think it’s cool when Rams own individual records and all - but they are an afterthought. This is the playoffs. Treat it that way.

Those calling to get Puka the record, I think it should be his call, but in the end, he is one of the starters I'd be more inclined to rest (nursing various ailments, is generally injury prone due to his all out style of play, and is key to this team's success).

It's the 49ers too. They head hunt like crazy. and play very dirty football High injury probability in this game. I think the OBJ head hunting vs. the 49ers in the playoffs during our Super Bowl run was among the most egregious I have ever seen. Every tackle was intentionally targeting his head with a helmet-to-helmet blow. The refs flagged all of them but 1, if I am recalling correctly, but they should have been ejected.

I still stand by my comments earlier in this thread in that I'd lean to play everyone, for the reasons stated. But if the Rams don't do that, and opt to rest guys, Puka would be near the top of my list.

Yup what I said in the other thread. I believe McVay will offer it to him to try for the record, but I wouldn't be surprised if Puka wants to be healthy for the team in the playoffs. I wouldn't knock him if he tries for it. I just think that from all of his interviews this year that he's a total team player and selfless. I'd be happy if he went ahead and got it though.
