Didn't take long for someone to clutch their pearls. There are all kinds of RIP threads on ROD.

So we can have 12 pages of fawning over guys that worship Satan, but we have to "Close the thread" for someone who is an avowed Christian, and lifted up young people and gave them hope?

Not sure why, just like I did with the fawning over Ozzy Osborne, you can't just ignore it, if it is not in your interest.

Ironic, one part of Charlies legacy is that he abhorred the silencing of free speech.

I get that this is a private Site, and I respect the Board rules, but there was nothing controversial, or political about my praising of his life. (And I don't encourage anyone going political)

Just thought it should be noted.

Did you post a RIP thread for the kids that were killed in school in Denver today?

How about Melissa Hortman?

I didn't think so. Political threads are against board policy for good reason.

The only one killed was the shooter himself but that was just luck I guess.

I will never understand how somebody can be so full of hate to kill another person. This man left behind a wife and two young children because somebody chose hate and had been told that this hate is good and ok. Instead of talking out differences like Kirk championed somebody chose to act out the hate in their heart and soul. It's a sad state that our nation is in when this kind of hate runs rampant in a section of society and it is acted out daily.

Add to that the kids shot in Colorado, none dead including the shooter as of now, and yeah not good the constant violence people chose to commit.

I'm just so damn saddened by this ... The amount of people on socials that hit that laughing emoji breaks my heart. How are we in a world where people laugh at a young husband and father of 2 small children being assissinated in front of them?....our nation is in a very bad place. And we are doomed if we can't unite and move forward in peace.

Social media is more bots and AI now than actual people. That is one of the main threat to people's mental health these days. The algorithms will flood you with doom and gloom and load up reactions to posts to make people upset because they know people will click it out of fear or anger and it just keeps building. It's getting really bad. I know I took a bit of a tangent here but it is a serious problem that is only going to get worse. Obviously, there will always be heartless and stupid people but it is being amplified now to just keep building on itself.

What does this even mean?? Total Red Herring dude. I believe you were free to make such posts. Did you?

I didn’t think so.

Why does a post honoring the death of someone have to be political? And why is it that if I post one I must post about all. I had no idea who the Minnesota state senator was. So, no, I was not touched by her life. Thus, no post honoring her. Or the kids in Colorado, or the thousands of senseless murders committed every year.

Just for your information, though. I mourn the senseless murder of all of these people. And it is the same hatred and evil at the core of each of those killers. None of it should be tolerated by our society.

Let’s keep this a RIP thread. Offer condolences and words of respect, admiration, sadness, disgust at the act, etc. Please do not engage each other in political or other debate over the subject. I will not lock the thread, I will simply delete posts, ban violators from the thread, and make note. And this goes for everyone regardless of where you stand.

One of my sons knew him personally. Seeing the graphic videos of the assassination affected him terribly. I hate that people posted those super graphic videos to social media immediately without even considering the victim, his family, and all others. Social media has turned a large percentage of the population into uncivilized lemmings who believe the most important thing in life is getting likes/noticed on social media platforms. Meanwhile, people who are of adult age cannot even speak to others in person or look another person in the eye. The fact that there are people surrounding us who are basically celebrating the assassination yesterday shows how society is heading backwards. People who cannot talk about this disgusting senseless loss without turning it into political/religious divisiveness need to take a long honest internal look at what you have allowed yourself to become.

We don't allow political or religious discussions here for very good reasons. Subjects like those aren't meant to be discussed outside of your own home... at least that's what I was taught at a very young age. They certainly don't belong in a sports forum designed to bring Ram Fans together WITH CIVILITY. If you feel the need to immerse yourself in divisive hateful behavior... there are unlimited platforms for you all over the net. Take your amazing keyboard warrior abilities into those cesspools and enjoy the stupidity and hate.

If anyone truly feels the need to try and polute our site with trash... that's on you. We believe in consequences and accountability here. Please show respect, otherwise you will not receive any. Don't be a dumbass.

Charlie was assassinated because of stupidity and hate. If anyone really watched and listened to what he did, they would have seen that he was doing what he could to promote civility and respect for everyone. He would always show compassion to those who disagreed with him... hell, he'd put his arm around people who acted like feral animals to his face.

It crushes me thinking about what his family is going through now. There is no excuse for what happened yesterday... it was nothing else but pure evil.

Here we are on September 11th, and instead of coming together as a nation like we did on that day, many people are blindly doing everything possible to divide and separate everyone. How pathetic and disgusting.

Nobody should be shot, full stop. I hope the murderers are found and the book thrown at them.

However, American society has disintegrated to such a point that this kind of political assassination was inevitable.
Still, Kirk himself said:

"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

I’m fortunate to live in a country that doesn’t permit every Tom, Dick and Harry to walk around carrying guns. Although that might change in future, the way this country is going.

This one is tough.
Incredibly tough.
Nobody is condoning the fact that he was shot: it shouldn’t have happened, and the perpetrators should be locked up for life.

However, people differ on his political views. That is not to say that people should be killed for their political views, by the way.

People disagree with the views of a lot of famous people. We are not going to disallow RIP threads for that fact. And we will watch closely when it involves someone who was very political regardless of what those politics were.

RIP Charlie Kirk. You definitely lived a life worth acknowledging.

Peaceful discussion and debate should not be condemned by any sane individual.
