Report: Rams turned down trade offers for Gerald Everett

Rams tight end Gerald Everett will apparently stay in Los Angeles despite some interest from other teams.

The Rams have received calls from teams wanting to know if Everett trade would be available in a trade, but the Rams said no, according to Jordan Rodrigue of TheAthletic.com.

The Rams selected Everett with the 44th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft, and he’s currently heading into the fourth and final year on his rookie contract. He had a career-high 37 catches for 408 yards last season.

Everett is due a $1.3 million base salary this season.

I'm glad to hear that. Rams have invested time and development effort into him, so why not see if he can put it together in his contract season. Would suck pretty bad to get a 4th or 5th rounder for him then see him make the Pro Bowl.

Now if he shows well this season we'll get a 3rd almost for sure for him because someone will pay him.

I still say that they could shock everyone and deal Troy Hill and save $4.5M off of the cap that can be pushed to next yr.. Abt $3.7M after they add his roster replacement.

Would likely net a mid round pick and you still have Ramsey, Williams, Long, Deayon, and Burgess.

Might even pick up a useable vet for the vet min.

Still think it makes sense. Could be the difference of being able to keep JJ next yr.

So would you rather have Hill for one yr or JJ for the next 5? Or maybe Everett breaks out and you can keep him or add an outside FA.

Need to push his cap room to next yr.

I'd keep Hill this year. I really like the depth of our coverage options and if we have a good OL that might be crucial to beating the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. :beer2:

Also I've been assuming Johnson's good as gone in FA at the end of his rookie deal so why change it now.

Oh and btw while we're talking potential trades I think Henderson may be a possibility. Because it makes it easier to fit in Jones.

I think it’s a smart move. What would the offers be? I bet a 6th or 7th round pick for a one year rental of Everett.

So the rams gambled. If Everett has an even better year they may get closer to a third round comp pick in 2022. Improved stats means a higher contract and higher pick.

Or he does better and they figure out how to sign him

Everett and Higs is a great tandem. Let’s enjoy a year of that, see where it goes.

With ya'll 110 on this.
