True Romance and Once Upon a Time...

...although the farm scene, and cellar bar scenes are two of the best ever (Inglorious Basterds)
The opening scene on the farm with the extended dialog between the farmer and Landa is my favorite and in my opinion one of the very best opening scenes ever.
I really enjoyed the stuff with Page talking about how he produced those albums. If you listen to a lot of music that year and then listen first two Zeppelin albums, it becomes clear really fast how far ahead of the time he was in using the studio as another instrument. And still, the live performances in the movie are just fucking epic, so much raw power. Those first two albums really presaged how different the 1970s would be from a musical perspective.
Yeah....Im going rewatch that Zepp doc more than a couple of time I think.
Agree with the studio stuff....really interesting.

Finally watched The Lives of Others, which takes place in East Germany when the Stasi spied on fucking everybody. You don't hate communists enough.

a few years back , ESPN did this series of documenters on Women in sports , one of the episodes was on Katarina Witt , the East German figure skaters who won the Olympic gold , in both 1984 and 1988

she talks about how the government would spy on here , bug her apartment , pay family , friends and neighbors to spy on her and report any suspicious going ons

Desertion of Olympic athletes , was a no , no

and she talked about how most all East German hated her , all thinking she was getting special treatment ,

by 19 she had her own apartment and car , and that was really frown upon , even though she won two gold metals , East Germans thought she should have been treated like everyone else

imagine putting in all that work to become a two time Olympic Champion and your own county resents you for it
