I really did not forget. I'm just reading a good salary cap site.

According to Spotrac, the Rams total Dead-$ in 2021 was $49M. Goff's $24.7M and Gurley's $8.4M represented the largest amounts. The Brandin Cooks Dead-$ ($21.8M) was in 2020 when the Rams' total Dead-$ was $38M.

$40M-plus of Dead-$ on Donald, along with as much as $27M on Wagner and Ramsey is almost $70M Dead-$ on those three players alone. I really WANT to be wrong because all I care about here is a good Rams' team. However, being objective and realistic, I just don't see it
Yes I'm familiar with Sportstrac.com wince it was launched.

Salary cap has risen 26.6 million since 2020.

Also I don't know if you consider the restructure of current players contracts (which obviously our FO is working on currently) and the trade/release of others. Think about this, doing a bit of research on my mock draft and trading these players will put us at the cap this year (liek we usually are) but next year and the year after we'll have 50 million plus the options to release/trade Noteboom and Haventstein and get about 25 million more.

Our Rams $75 million under the cap?

of course I don't think McSnead could reset not going for some good targets of FA at the time with all that cash.

Not saying it's for certain obviously but there are many moving parts that can be altered.

THAT, I agree with. Lots of moving parts ... lots of possibilities. Just don't think trading Donald is one of them.

I keep saying getting rid of Jalen is not fair to AD and Stafford who both bought into the bad injury scenario as an aberration. Figuring as well as being sold we will be able with the extremely strong nucleus we have to be able to dominate instantly. Stafford, Kupp and our OL starters had a lot of time off to get right. Robinson is now worked into the system we should be back on top. Not to mention the NFC is very weak with QBs like Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Wilson gone or almost gone plus a host of 2nd tier QBs handling most of the teams we should thrive.

So what is it going to look like if Ramsey is traded? Would it indicate they are going with a rebuild instead of reload? I'd have to think there would be something to that. And if we look deeper, is this what McVay signed off on? Did he decide to stay knowing he'd be part of a rebuild? And would this mean he intends to stick around and see it through?

If it means adding a stud G and Center, I don't think Stafford will complain too much.

Not fair? Have you seen Staffords and Donalds contracts? Not to mention they have Super Bowl rings. They’ll be ok regardless of who’s cut or traded hell maybe its then and they’ll still be ok.

...this time next year everyone here whining will see his decline and applaud this move. Especially if they can get good comp for him.
I'm of two minds about Ramsey.

On the one hand, I think of the conventional wisdom that successful teams stay relevant by trading their aging stars one year BEFORE their obvious decline. So by that thinking, Ramsey might have far more trade value now that he would in a year from now.

On the other hand... what I saw in the 2022 secondary was a huge drop off between Ramsey and the other corners. Ramsey looked FAR better than anyone else on the roster and it wasn't even close. Durant, Kendrick's, Long, Hill... nobody came close to JR. Yes, he declined a bit, but he's still only 28 and he's a hugely talented guy and a fierce competitor.

All in all, I hope the Rams keep JR because I still think he's got at least 2 great years left. And trading him away would leave a gaping hole that would be really hard to fill.

Only gave you the thread winner for stating the obvious to keep him. I get the allure of picks somewhat but replacing a talent like Ramsey is oh so hard.

I don't really want picks as much as I do players in a trade.

Carolina = Brian Burns (DE) and picks or straight up....not sure of value
Lions = Ragnow/Swift and picks?
Raiders = Rock Ya Sin/Ferrell/Josh Jacobs/any Olinemen?
Titans = ? and picks?
Chargers = Mack or picks?

There will be players that get cut. IMO The NFL always changes & revolves.
The Rams & other teams might have players moved around like at no other times.
-point being that Free Agent periods & cuts use to be meaningful.
Does June 1sr. Become a thing again.? I also like the way The Rams do things.They want players that want to be Rams and try to workout the best deals they can for players.

Robert Woods is(was) one of The Best Free Agent signings they have ever had.He should be a good addition again.He & Kupp will be great mentors.Even more so sense Trees played a season a part from Kupp.
I also think with reports coming out of Rams land we all have an idea,but this is The Real Crazy time where surprises come into play BIG TIME

We do not need to trade AD lmao
How could we? AD bent Snead over with the extension last year. It's bloated, it's got a no trade clause and there's no guarantee he'll play more than a season anyway. If AD can veto any deal then he's not going to accept a trade to a team that isn't a contender (unless some team offered him even more money - right....).

Even if we traded him we would still have $41m in dead money over the next three seasons. He's practically untrade-able for equivalent value. That extension was a marriage pact - 'til retirement do us part.

I don’t see a reset 2023 happening. There is no guarantee Stafford and AD would even play (or be healthy) in 2024. May even be lesser versions of themselves by then. Same for Kupp.

Seems it is either go for it now with some smart adds while hoping for good health; or
completely tear down in 2023 (2024 maybe too) for 1-3 years away.
Time is not on the Rams' side with AD, Stafford and Kupp. Rams will always be "all in" in their approach, but imo it will not be easy to put together a championship core to replace them when they go.

The sad part is the Rams paid AD $31m to watch qbs pass the ball within 2 secs to a wide open wr all game. He must feel dead inside, until he looks at his bank account and sees it rising by $1.6m every week.

Like Andrew Whitworth? You see him as NFL MAN of The Year.Seeing him on sidelines shows how respected he is amongst Peers.
Robert Wiids will be a nice addition? Wondering if he comes back? Tutu Atwell & Van will be much better off? Allen Robinson as well? Then again ?
DLINE is a BIG concern right now.

Can't see the Lions trading for Ramsay. True, he would help them a lot, but they can use the No. 6 pick to get the best CB in the draft anyway. Why give up a lot to get Ramsay and an expensive contract instead?
