lol for the love of god this board is going to be something for the next few months. What are the chances Sean McVay is losing his team’s respect? I’m seeing a storm brewing.
People even argued vehemently after the draft when a few of us pointed out that Kyren looked like the successor to Heno. I've never gotten the love for him personally. He's a good RB2 but nothing more. Akers showed some promise but this past week was his first decent statistical week in a very long time and we saw a few runs from him we haven't seen in quite a while. I still think we draft a RB next year to team with Kyren as Akers is phased out at the end of his contract and the Rams keep cycling RB's.I find it somewhat amusing that a guy who never had more than 600 yards rushing and was hurt all the time gets released
and its a sign of the apocalypse.
Jourdan posted that before the season even started they were likely not going to have hendo back and that was kyrens job.
Now that the season is tanked they are going to use kyren.
yeah i have nothing against hendo... but he was never anything special. If he could have stayed healthy things maybe could have been different.People even argued vehemently after the draft when a few of us pointed out that Kyren looked like the successor to Heno. Back off from Reggie. He lives down the street from my in-laws and is a good dude. One person's name I never hear mentioned with the avalanche of injuries this year is Reggie Scott. He received subdued praise the past few years for keeping a talented, veteran roster healthy. What happened this year, Reggie?
Yes, RBs can be found in just about any round. But I think our experience shows that not all RBs are GOOD RBs.I'm not surprised and for Henderson, it's a good move for him to be able to sign elsewhere. I think Akers is gone after the season as well. RB can be found in all rounds of the draft. I'm wondering if Hollins being released is an indication that Hardy is ready to come off of IR. Hardy should bring the explosiveness lacking in Hollins. I expect them to use their #2 draft pick on an edge and release Lewis as well. In fact, I think Jonah Williams is better than Hollins and Lewis. Williams brings more explosiveness than either. I think the Rams will target a trade or FA edge next year.
More than anything I still maintain the biggest problems is Morris and how he favors some players who are not necessarily the best at their positions, i.e. guys like Kendrick who obviously isn't ready to be a starter and is very scheme limited. Kendrick IMO is another Troy Hill. Morris is a mediocre DC who schemes like one.
I think Lake will replace Rapp, with Lake and Fuller their SS with Lake being more scheme flexible than Fuller or Scott (who is really a FS). Rochell and Ramsey should be their starting boundary CBs as Kendrick has proven he's too slow to be outside. Durant should be the SCB. That would give the Rams 4.3 speed at all 3 CBs. But Morris plays his slowest CB instead of Rochell and wonders why he gets beat deep?
I was talking to a friend who follows the Falcons and he said favoritism was a problem with Raheem and one of the reasons he's gone. His good enough attitude IMO is a problem.
I'm not surprised Hollins and Henderson are gone. I'm a bit surprised at the timing with this season in the toilet I thought they would just try to limp through it. Hopefully Hardy is ready to come off of IR to replace Hollins and they might be ready to sign a RB off of some other PS.
Well, one thing, their second and third round picks shouldn't be buried at the end of the rounds.
This thought crossed my mind when the Akers stuff started.NEW THEORY!
Hendo and Akers hated each other but tried to keep it together for the good of the team. Akers looked like the bad guy, so the Rams tried to get something for him, to no avail. Since he is back, and under team control (unlike Henderson), the Rams chose to waive Henderson because there's even more tension since the team is getting worked every week.

This may be the year a dominant back can lead a team to a SB. When McVay and Staley had the number one defense every team noticed. Now every team plays a version of quarters coverage. So now we see more run centric teams flourish. ie. Seahawks, Eagles, Jets. NFL defenses are switching back to more balanced defenses as the season goes on and we start to see some teams struggle scoring points, like the Eagles.I agree I got into a debate on how a RB no longer really cinches a trip to the Superbowl....while I thought CMC was a good acquisition for the whiners because of the QB Achilles I can't remember who the last team with a superstar all pro RB won the Superbowl and if so not many in the last what 20 year.
The argument remains though maybe nothing to it but since other teams are doing it why though is it perhaps a problem here. There were again times gurleys usage was questioned before he was done and he would be snooty in the presser so again could be nothing or perhaps a disconnect.
I think though most people on here at one point or another have stayed concern on how and when the run game is being used. I'm just not sure honestly.
Well not getting 4 comp picks in the 2024 draft would be fortuitous timing. We have our full compliment of draft selections, except we have two 6th's and no 7th. If we can get a 5th and two 7th comps we'll be loaded. 10 picks.Agree with everything you wrote.
Only question I have is the impact on 2024 compensatory picks for free agents lost in 2023.
I assume the Rams did an analysis, and do NOT see an impact for waiving pending free agents Henderson and Hollins.
I’m not suggesting either is a top free agent but I am looking at the Rams best remaining pending free agents (Gaines, Robinson, Edwards, Rapp, Scott, Long and Hill).
Should the Rams lose all of them; and fail to sign any significant free agents, they should net the max of four comp picks. Although none are likely higher than a fifth.
If the Rams can re-sign one or two of their free agents (I would like to see Gaines back), the pool of free agents they would lose (without Henderson and Hollins in the mix) may not be enough to get back four comp picks.
We have grown accustomed to the Rams getting four comp picks but that’s far from certain in 2024. Maybe even unlikely at this point.
Certainly may not be a big deal if the Rams have one less #6 or #7 in 2024. Just trying to see what the advantage to waiving these players now, vs. holding onto them (and not playing them) and allowing them to leave via free agency.
Reports are Hendo asked for his release and was granted it. That takes any comp pick considerations out of it. Besides look at his production and injury history and does anybody think he’s going to be a big money signing this offseason? I can’t there are too many good free agents and draft picks to think he’s gets anything major.Agree with everything you wrote.

Very much so.Last season was considerably more pleasant than this one
I understand that ... and agree. Just trying to understand the Rams' reasoning and thought process.Reports are Hendo asked for his release and was granted it. someone posted this earlier in this thread we are going to be maxed out on comp picks (I believe it was 4?) and that we were unlikely to get any from henderson.I understand that ... and agree. Just trying to understand the Rams' reasoning and thought process.
The whole point of my post was ... WHY release him (regardless of whether he requested a release or not), when he may have had an impact on future comp picks. In other words, What was the benefit to the Rams?
I also specifically wrote that losing free agents like Henderson and/or Hollins would not have anything beyond a small impact on comp picks; and may not even have that. Regardless, it still goes to the question of ... What is the Benefit for the Rams waiving them now?
There have been many threads over the past couple years about the Rams' Strategy to maximize compensatory picks, and build the back-end of the roster with young and inexpensive mid/late round picks. Hence my question remains ... If there's a chance that waiving Henderson and Hollins now could cost the Rams a late round comp pick, is there any off-setting benefit or advantage?
they are going to start playing many more young guysSo McVay decides to cut the only RB who's played in every game this season, and thus entrusting the duties to an RB who mysteriously was absent from the team for a couple weeks and who had missed all of last season due to injury, and a rookie RB who missed all of PS due to injury and then missed the regular season due to another one, and some folks dont acknowledge this is very effing bizarre?
I dont buy McVay giving up on the season, and doing Hendo a "solid" by cutting him. That sends a terrible message to the rest of the team who will still be left being expected to give it their all.
Yes and No.Last season was considerably more pleasant than this one
