I feel depressed.

Rams were willing to get rid of Bobby Wagner because we are in at least CAP Purgatory, if not CAP Hell. Looking at AD on the wrong side of 30, I have little doubt that Snead would pull the trigger on a trade for high draft picks. Our time at the top seems to be at a real end.

I painfully agree. That's what depresses me the most.. we're definitely not a contender right now. And at most will be a wildcard contender.

We had only one all-pro on the team last season and just cut him to save $5m?

Wagner's contract wasn't out of whack (he was the 11th highest paid LB and performed top 3).

Maybe there is something else going on, but from the outside it looks like the FO is in a tough spot with the cap deadline approaching and was only left with bad options.

We have five guys with overvalued contracts (Floyd, Allen Robinson, Noteboom AD and Kupp). Sad that the FO couldn't find another way to get under the salary cap.

I love me some AD, but we never should have given him another $40m just to finish the last three years of his contract.

I feel like we are heading for some 7-9 bullshit.

Best wishes to him and good luck except when we need his new team to lose.

Forward!

I would pump the brakes on feeling like we can't compete. I have a feeling we may be creating room to eventually add an edge (valued more than ILB plus E Jones should improve even more) and the Rams still have more moves they can make to get more CAP room. Make no mistake, the Rams will reload in an attempt to win it all since that is in McVay in Snead's DNA.

Man! There's a ton of negativity on this thread. Some from posters that are usually a little more positive.

I like Wagner too. Thought he had a very good year. However, he will be thirty-three when the season starts. He plays a position where the Rams have a young player they like in Ernest Jones. And, it's a position the Rams had not previously invested much cap space.

Guys, the Rams are still over the cap; and probably have some tough decisions and moves to make.
Hell! ... Whitworth is still on-the-books for 2023!!!

They spent big to put a strong team on-the-field in recent years ... and they pushed cap ramifications forward Snead even said in his end-of-season press conference that they would have to pay-off some of the debt they had incurred.

The salary cap is a real thing. There's creativity but there's no magic wand.

I’m making the call, that The Rams find away to sign Mack from the Chargers. Just a guess, but that is where the Rams usually like to spend that Cap dollar.

Well, on the bright side, at least we got to the top. If you are a fan of some other team that's never remotely had a chance (Cleveland) or one that got close but fell short, you never had what we had in 2021. And we won it in our house in the first Super Bowl ever played there.
Yeah, I know.. I am depressed because my expectations were so much higher when players recovered from injury, along with a few more acquisitions. Now, reaching the top doesn’t seem possible.

He was fine as a Ram with an outstanding season last year. The Rams came to him and talked to him man to man to take a cut. After his season there was no reason for him to do so.

I hope he ends up in the AFC or Detroit if he's going to be in the NFC. I have no hard feelings, he held up his end.

At this point it looks like Jones and Howard.

You talk about about Raheem Morris & Kendrick. I will say this is an example of STATS are 4 LOSERS!!
Bobby Wagner in a story says he wants to play for a winner!I will add my 2 sense.I enjoyed what Bobby Wagner brought to The Rams as a player & mentor.
The stats & some of his play was at an All Pro level.
—The thing I noticed late in games that his cover skills were weak at times.
—I find this interesting watching how much The Rams defense will change 2023.It’s not like Sean Mcvay isn’t totally involved with the Defense!

On the positive side, he is going to be 33 years old. Just maybe the Rams just let a "Jason Sehorn" walk away the way the Giants let JS walk away back in the day. That's the only way I can look at this and not puke.

PFT speculates he could return to Seattle, but not sure that qualifies as going to a winner.
