And didn’t Jones sort of move to 2nd fiddle? Maybe the Rams want more of Jones in the lead LB role.
Yep and I think so... especially since they can use the saved starter money elsewhere. I think they can replace Jones role last year either with a late draft pick, current project on the roster or free agent

3rd best player on the D last year and a real pro.

A repeat of the Top 5 run D we had most of last year is looking uncertain, at best.

Best of luck when not playing the Rams Mr Wagner.

We are getting to a tipping point on the defense. If we don't replace Wagner with a premium player, and especially if they also move Donald or Ramsey, they might as well blow it up and try to get young

Offensive league.

Quickest way to rebuild on the fly. Add and or keep vets on the offense to protect the QB, and score points, while adding youth and speed to the defense.

Maybe you still keep a vet leader like Ramsey on D, surround him with youth. That may mean you move Donald even if it's just for multiple #2 picks.

Kind of like what they did in 2001. They blew up the D, added speed and youth on D around Aeneas Williams, but kept the offense intact.

Floyd has to be next. Can designate him as a post June 1st cut and save $15M. Allen could follow.

Higbee could be a trade asset also. Noteboom, coming off an Achilles, probably not.

Re: his replacement Jones stays on the field and the other spot is an early down rotation with safeties coming in more often than not the rest of the downs.

Likely a way to improve the pass D since both were on the field together a little too much last yr.

Floyd would not surprise me yeah. I'll give the guy that he plays through injuries but this is a production business and he hasn't lived up to his contract.

I'd consider it if we received Pittsburgh's overall #17 & #32 in this years draft.

Yeah that's what it looks like to me. That and general (cap) efficiency. They drafted Jones for the one role that stays on the field. Wags isn't good enough to put him on the bench so the vet moves on.

I seriously fuckin hate this move!!! He was the best ILB in the league look how good our run d was with him top 5. I thought we were going to restructure kupp and that would solve it.

Bad bad bad move.

I'd move him for the 17 overall this year. Because if the conversation happens it's because AD wants it and he's a possibility of punching out. Rams have zero power in that equation unfortunately.

BWagz had an awesome season but Rams won the superbowl with Troy Reeder at ILB...Hopefully McVay and Co. don't go into the next season starving at Edge again.

I feel depressed.

Rams were willing to get rid of Bobby Wagner because we are in at least CAP Purgatory, if not CAP Hell. Looking at AD on the wrong side of 30, I have little doubt that Snead would pull the trigger on a trade for high draft picks. Our time at the top seems to be at a real end.

I don’t think 2021 2.0 is the way to go.

I think we need some retooling and this is probably not the last surprise move.
