I am a little surprised but also not totally surprised. I think Wade is tired of having to run a zone-heavy scheme to compensate for Peters' inability to play M2M coverage. David Long is a stellar press man CB, but we had to keep him on the bench because we couldn't play press man with Peters in the lineup. Wade has always preferred to use a lot of press man coverage in his scheme. I'm also sure he's tired of Peters' unwillingness to consistently tackle.

I'm also very happy we got an ILB. Troy Reeder was a major liability, and Wade has always been great at picking ILBs.

Not sure this makes us better today unless this is part of a bigger plan we don’t know about yet as far as more trades happening. David Long gonna make an active roster yet.

Unless he was killing the locker room, this makes little sense imo.

I wondered the same. We will never know. It could just be his poor tackling or bad scheme fit.

I’m guessing Snead really liked Kenny Young and knew he wouldn’t be signing Peters. So he got a player he wanted for one that doesn’t really fit, nor had a future with the team.

I hope this means that they figure on signing some FA Olinemen in the offseason and it would cancel the comp pick from Peters. They may think they wouldn’t get any better than a fourth round comp pick the way he’s played so it’s a wash.

If Young ends up being better than any of the Inside Linebackers on the roster then it’s a great move.

With Talib out, this really surprises me.

Hmm. Seems like more to come.
It's interesting timing for sure. Remember how badly Peters struggled to cover anyone last year when Talib went out with the high ankle sprain? Maybe McVay and Phillips said, "Oh hell no we ain't living though that again" and traded him rather than playing him without Talib.

I think petters lack of tackling,no bump and run and cap # had a lot to do with this trade. i'm wondering on the corbett trade if he is going to play guard or center? thoughts???

I think that’s exactly what facilitated the timing of this move. And I wouldn’t be surprised to see a move for Ramsey but it would eat up cap space needed to upgrade the OL.

Not gonna be a popular opinion but I don't like this. Peters has his issues but he's been one of the ones coming through on D getting interceptions, he loved being on this team and I don't like breaking up more the "brotherhood" this team has had. Maybe it will make sense to me soon but I don't like this move right now after just losing Talib, oh well
