Prior two years was his rookie season and his second season was where shit all fell apart and the coach was fired if I have the timeline correct. Not gonna look it up as it doesn't really matter, Rams will of course try him outside first because then they don't have to move Lake who has been playing at a plus starter level.

Whereas him playing outside he only has to be better than one of them, none of whom have really wowed anyone in coverage.
Good points.

It's probably not super important that he was a rookie and shit fell apart in his 2nd season because their numbers still reflect that he was good inside, bad outside. I'm assuming he's better across the board though since he's developed as a player. I was just highlighting that the metrics reflect his differing levels of performance depending on role.

But I fully agree with your other points. I'm sure they will try him outside because Lake is elite in the slot. McVay said as much, too. And yeah, it probably doesn't take much to unseat Durant and Forbes.

Before the trade, I didn't see the sense in acquiring him given Lake's play, but I'm warming up to it. The depth can't hurt and we didn't give up much at all.

I realize everyone has an opinion.

What exactly is the downside of this trade?
The down side is it creates a topic and opportunity for fans who know very little or nothing about him (read: 99% of Ramsnation) to question the wisdom of turning a fifth round pick into a sixth round pick for a non-shutdown CB when there were so many others available. Particularly a night after we all saw how the acquisition of Ramsey has totally strengthened that stifling Steelers defense!!! We were all hoping for a fuck them picks Von Miller move weren't we?

I like the way he tackles, blitzes, and goes after RBs in that video!
Agree -worth posting. This is actually The Perfect Fit for The Price. It’s AMAZING how Les Snead pulls these trades off.
-Just looking deeper into the trade though.I guess I’m starting to think the trade cost vertically nothing for The Rams in the END!!

Meaning if it was a conditional pick from both teams ? Those picks are usually early & there was compensation if right? The Rams could still get a COMP pick for these McCrerey guy ? If not a veteran player who fits for a few seasons ?

It’s articles like these that BLOW my MIND!! WTF ? I get mad at posters who think likes this. It’s just person needing to produce content imo ?? Just my thoughts, but Forbes isn’t the problem & an ascending player who teams might want to run at because of his SIZE.The Jags ran right at him and he condensed like a pretzel. Made the tackle, but then Whiterspoon got hurt on a somewhat similar play.Shiwing depth, plus D.Washington has a shoulder issue & if the game was close it could’ve got scary. Now heading into another game & divisional play it’s going to get physical.

I don't see too much downside. Coming to a real contender from the Titans might create a lot of motivation to play harder, especially since he's a UFA (?) next season?

Dude - your missing your own point.First off I saw Josh Wallace live playing against Dallas in that scrimmage. He was playing out side CB.He got beat SO BAD by Turpin who is electric. He has no cover skills & a bit slow.Got exposed.
Wallace though found a spot inside like Jayle McCollough who played well in 2024.
—That said YOUR biggest concern with The Rams defense is that middle GAP that Mac Jones exposed!! This trade helps address this potentially.PLUS the Dept he gives The Rams, especially with Ahkello being out.

Highlights might be overrated, but we’re talking a 2nd rd pick vs UDRFA. Plus Aubrey Pleasant got a look under the hood in the Senior Bowl.Les Snead Lives Auburn guys.SEC means toughness.

Hey, guys who edited the title? McCreary's first name is "Roger", not "Rodger". "Rodger" is the first name of our ex-offensive guard/tackle.

Just saaaying.

Roger that.

Do you like memes, Mems? Do you like gladiator movies?

I would NOT want the below thought to be the result because I value Quentin Lake's play and leadership.

I WANT the Rams to re-sign Lake.
However, he is getting a lot of positive press; and that could lead to a big contract in free agency.

The Rams don't often re-sign safeties. They usually put a value on their free agents that they do not exceed.
If another team is willing to over-pay (in the opinion of the Rams' Front Office), that player is probably gone.

Potential Result
If Roger McCreary looks good in the slot; and does not receive offers in free agency comparable to Lake ... perhaps the Rams consider McCreary a more viable option to re-sign.

Thank you! People do that to me all the time and that D to my name too. Actually Roger is also the more common spelling.
